Michael Jackson Mentionings

contactmusic.com

Tough guy rapper THE GAME's little sister has dropped an embarrassing titbit about her brother - he used to perform MICHAEL JACKSON's THRILLER with her. Aspiring hip-hop star Sherani Taylor has revealed she and big brother Jayceon, aka The Game, used to perform a ***** routine at the dance school their mother once ran. She tells Sister 2 Sister magazine, "It (school) was called Little Foxes and Fine Gents. I did everything from tapping to Michael Jackson onstage with my brother. "We'd do Michael Jackson's Thriller. We had those shiny gloves and Michael Jackson T-shirts. I'll never forget that."

A small thing in the daily mail about Lady GAGA "But it didn't take long for the then teenager, who grew up in an Italian-American household listening to Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson, to completely overhaul her image. As she struggled to make a name for herself in New York clubs, she vamped up her look in a desperate effort to stand out from the crowd"

I know i know its a tabloid but its nice to know these current stars listened to Michael.

Michael Jackson Movies

During his career Michael Jackson has starred in a small number of movies as well as making a couple of cameo appearances. Being a pioneer in the field of music videos or short films as he prefers to call them his movies have also all been musicals and have tended to be groundbreaking in one form or another.

The Wiz In 1978 he had a starring role in The Wiz, a remake of one of his own personal favourite films, "The Wizard of Oz". It was an all blackcast with Diana Ross in the starring role as Dorothy and comedian/actor Richard Pryor as The Wiz. Michael Jackson played the part of the Scarecrow. The role included singing and dancing as well as a fair amount of make up. It was also the movie where Michael met and worked with Quincy Jones, a partnership which proved one of the most successful ever as Quincy went on to produce Michael's first 3 solo albums as an adult artist.

Captain EO In 1986 a 17 minute 3-D musical movie was released solely for distribution within Disney Theme Parks - Captain EO. Michael played the lead role as Captain of a spacecraft on a mission with a team of misfits to deliver a special gift to an Evil Queen. The movie remains one of the most expensive per minute movies ever produced. It used the very latest 3-D special effects as well as being produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppala.

MoonWalker 1988 saw the release of a full length Motion picture movie - Moonwalker. Its a movie which features highlights of Michael Jackson's career from his days with the Jackson 5 up to his record breaking Bad album and World Tour. The movie features a number of short films which were released as music videos for single releases from the Bad album as well as some live stage performances. In between the music and biographical parts of the films is a basic good versus evil plot which revolves around Michael having to rescue a young girl who has been kidnapped while playing with her friends by the evil Mr Big.

Ghosts In 1996 the 38 min film Ghosts was first screened. Another musical movie this time with Michael performing a number a tracks from his History Remix album, Blood on The Dance Floor. The movie again made the most of latest special effects technology. Michael played the two main characters in the movie, the Maestro who lives at the top of a hill in a typically scary house and also the town Mayor who is on a mission with fellow town members to run the maestro out of town.

As well as these movies Michael has also made cameo appearances in Men In Black 2, a box office hit starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones and also a lesser known movie Miss Castaway.

Four students submitted essays, mainly focusing on America’s freedom. “What America means to me is being free because in some countries people can’t even choose the job they want,” begins one fourth grader’s paper. The essays gave a look into the eyes of local elementary school students.
As the evening went on, more students arrived and brave individuals danced to songs such as Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back.”
“I think that the presidential election was such a big deal this year, and this is a great way to culminate the election,” said freshman Rheanna Martino, the Wampler Hall senator, “This is also a great way to kick off Obama’s presidency.”

Also honored during the event were pioneering female rapper MC Lyte, Bow Wow and LL Cool J. Mario opened the show with a cover of Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror," leaning in extra hard on the lines "I'm gonna make that change for once in my life" as a montage of notable African-Americans flashed behind him. The show was closed by special guest Busta Rhymes, who took the stage with Spliff Star for a medley of hits, including "Ante Up" and "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See."

He remains close with his mother, who he says has done a "180," and is planning to move with him to Atlanta after his graduation in May. Heath hopes to enroll in a dual law-divinity graduate program at Emory University.
Heath said he wanted to stir audience members -- many of whom were schoolchildren -- into believing in their own greatness. In an interview last week, he said people need to accept their responsibilities.
"The choices we make determine the consequences we accept," he said. "It is time for us as a people to move beyond blame. Michael Jackson said it best: "I'm talking to the man in the mirror.' "
During his fiery, 22-minute speech Monday, Heath posed the question to his audience: What if the dreamer stopped dreaming? "Because the dreamer never stopped dreaming, we can appreciate the victory," Heath said. "Because this dreamer, this drum major for Civil Rights, this man who risked everything never stopped dreaming, some of us had an opportunity and a chance."

Lucy Liu, Queen Latifah was there, while Corbin Bleu performed his Michael Jackson-inspired performance. Bow Wow sang 'Marco Polo' and 'Thank You', without Soulja Boy Tell 'em, asking the audience to light up their cell phones or raise glow sticks to set the mood. Usher recited a little of Luther King's 'I Have a Dream' speech in honour of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Thanks for news and happy birthday to Cala ,TrennyP, Miss Jackson, Rani, paulinadejackso, may all your dreams come true.

Corbin Bleu ‘Matters’ in Washington

corbin-bleu-moments-dc.jpg

Corbin Bleu channels his inner Michael Jackson in cool shades and an army-like blue jacket as he performs his upcoming single, “The Moments That Matter” at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on Monday night (January 19).
The 19-year-old performer rocked out on stage with his two backup dancers, Bosco and Big Mike, as well as the Mt. Vernon High School Choir.
Corbin even traveled down to greet Malia and Sasha Obama, only to get a bigger reaction from new First Lady Michelle Obama herself.

I saw most of The Wiz just recently. Didn't get to see it all, though. The Wizard of Oz, as you may tell from underneath my avatar, is one of my favorite stories of all time. This is a natural since I am from Kansas and also played a lead Munchkin part in a high school musical (it's also one of my nicknames). Peter Pan is right there, as well. Awesome story. I played Jane in that one and got to fly and give Peter a thimble, (ok, a kiss, lol). :)

Ghosts is pretty cool. Moonwalker was good, but confusing to follow at times. I also liked Captain Eo.

These are all good movies for kids and adults alike. Michael knows how to make a good short story.

I know. Me too. I guess my part of meeting the challenge will have to what until tomorrow. LOL.

This is history in the making and I don't want to miss it.

The Obama's are so amazingly gracious.

RedOne (real name: Nadir Khayat) is currently working with Enrique Iglesias, and has partnered with his friend, R&B singer Akon, on top-secret sessions with Michael Jackson.
He has no idea when -- or even if -- their recordings will see the light of day. No plans have been announced for a Jackson album.
"With Michael you never know until you see the CD," RedOne said in a recent interview. "If it happens or not, it's OK. I worked with Michael. It's something I've done in my life."

Thanks virgina for the post. I was just about to post that one but glad I came here first to see it wasn't posted.
