MICHAEL JACKSON TOUR UPDATE
Michael Jackson is focussed - focussed on the most successful comeback and concert spectacular in history!
For six hours a day, four days a week Jackson is locking himself, his crew and his dancers away for extensive top-secret rehearsals. The King of Pop is in such good shape that he is having absolutely no trouble keeping up at dance rehearsals - even though the dancers are less than half his age! Jackson is even believed to be working on a brand new dance move which he is hoping will become somewhat of a trademark, much like his gravity-defying and legendary “moonwalk”.
Jackson has once again, as previously reported, teamed up with Kenny Ortega - who helped Jackson stage two of the biggest and most spectacular music tours in history to date - the 1992/93 ”Dangerous World Tour” and 1996/97 “HIStory World Tour”. Recently Ortega is known for masterminding the “Highschool Musical” movie choreography. His role in the “This Is It” Jackson shows is Producer and Director.
Randy Phillips, President and CEO of concert promoter AEG Live is extremely pleased of Jackson’s choice of show director. “Michael and Kenny are creating an escapist adventure that will take the audience on an entertainment experience only imagined in dreams or big budget motion pictures. This is the perfect pairing on unique creative talents with the greatest repertoire in contemporary music”, said Phillips.
“It’s going to be the biggest, most technologically advanced arena show — and the most expensive — ever mounted!”, Randy explained. “Two-hour all-singing and all-dancing spectaculars. Michael Jackson is a perfectionist so it’s going to be amazing!”. Phillips also revealed that Michael will belt out anything from 18 to 22 songs - believed to be mainly his biggest smash hits, with the possibility of new music being included as well!
All 50 shows sold out within hours of going on sale, and broke a long list of concert tour and music industry records along the way. “The unprecedented demand for these shows turned a normal public on sale into a cultural phenomenon and pushed the boundaries by which we measure success.”
It is believed that a brand NEW Michael Jackson single will be released in the coming months - sometime before the opening concert on July 8th. At this point there is no solid information on the proposed release date, or title of the track.
