No wonder Walt Disney was a huge influence for Michael and he never tired of going there.
Walt Disney's last home was at 355 North Carolwood Drive (I wonder if that is one reason why Michael rented Number 100?). Disney apparently bought the plot because the land was flat enough for him to lay out his 'miniature' railway...he named the engine after his wife.
The 'barn' from 355 North Carolwood drive is now located at Griffith Park. The old house was flattened after new owners bought the plot, in the 1990s.
On June 1 1948, Walt and Lillian bought the lot where they built the house where they lived until their deaths - Walt in 1966 and Lillian in 1997.
The home was located at 355 Carolwood Drive in Los Angeles, on 5 acres in the developing and exclusive Holmby Hills area, and they moved in during February of 1950.
There is very little information on the house itself, but I do know that Walt did not want it to be a mansion like the other homes in the area, because he did not want a staff to maintain it. Almost all literature on Walt's time at this address focus on his building a miniature railroad around the property, which is dubbed the Carolwood Pacific Railroad.

Walt Disney remembered having a barn on his family’s farm in Marceline, Missouri, where he would play. As a young kid, he would try putting on a barnyard circus for his friends in the barn and would “charge” them money. The barn was always a source of magic and wonder to Walt.
In 1949, Walt Disney moved his family to 355 N. Carolwood Drive, Holmby Hills, north of Beverly Hills, California. And that’s how the barn got its name.
The Disney house was sold in 1997 to start the Disney Foundation and later the Museum. Diane Disney Miller, the eldest daughter asked the new owner if they could save the barn, and the new owner agreed.
In 1998, the barn was removed from the Carolwood property, piece by piece, each piece labeled and shipped down to Griffith Park, where it is now located.
