HISTORICAL DATES

1971 - "Maybe Tomorrow", the fifth album by The J5 enters both the Billboard US Black album charts, where it peaked at No.1, and Pop Albums charts where it peaked at No.11.

1989 - Police in California were called to a jewelry store after employees reported a suspicious person wearing a disguise. The person turned out to be Michael Jackson shopping in disguise. The Security guard for the shopping mall, HN Edwards asked him, ‘Why are you wearing a false mustache?’” Edwards said. “He said, ‘I have to – I’m in disguise – I'm Michael Jackson.’ When he told me this, my first thought was this guy had gotten off the elevator between floors." Police Sgt Ken Tacke and Officer Gordon Weeks said they questioned Jackson, and asked him to remove his disguise and show his identification. He complied. He told the police he has to wear a disguise when he goes shopping or he would be mobbed by crowds. After that Michael signed autographs and he and the boy drove off in a late model Mercedes Benz.

1992 - Michael is in Washington to accept a 'Point Of Light' award from President Bush, which acknowledges his efforts with disadvantaged children.

1992 _ While in the nation's capital for the "the points of light" ambassadors ceremony, Jackson kept a promise to visit Raynal Pope, whom he befriended after she was mauled by dogs last March. The 7-year-old girl, was critically injured in March 1992 when she was attacked by four dogs in District Heights. The mauling left Jacaia with more than 100 wounds and paralysis on one side of her face. Raynal, her younger sister Myja, and two cousins played hide-and-seek, wrestled and danced with Jackson during his recent 45-minute visit to her D.C. suburban home. Michael also posed for photographs with the family and autographed a red leather "Beat It" jacket that Raynal's father also named, Michael, purchased 10 years ago during the frenzy over the Thriller album. When leaving, Jackson kissed Raynal on the cheek. And Raynal gave him one back. "his face was soooooooft," she said afterward.

1999
- Michael receives a 'Bollywood' Award from the Indian Film Industry for World Humanity. The award is presented at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York.

2002 - It was reported that Michael Jackson wanted to direct his first movie an adaptation of Jennings Michael Burch's book "They Cage the Animals at Night." According to Bryan Michael Stoller, he and Michael Jackson were going to co-direct the motion picture based on the best-selling novel by Jennings Michael Burch. Mel Gibson hired Stoller to write the screenplay adaptation of Burch's book, with Stoller and Jackson signed to co-direct. Bryan Michael Stoller directed the famous parody of the 1980s Pepsi commercial which features Michael Jackson. The parody, The Shadow of Michael, caught Jackson's attention and he telephoned Stoller, a phone-call which launched a twenty-year friendship. Michael was featured in Stoller's feature film Miss Cast Away and the Island Girls. Stoller stated he was friends with Michael up until his passing and that was also mentoring Jackson and his three children about filmmaking. (We heard Prince mention in two interviews they were being taught about the art of filmmaking, It's very likely it was Bryan Michael Stoller who was helping them)

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“And that's what innocence is. It's simple and trusting like a child,
not judgmental and committed to one narrow point of view. If you
are locked into a pattern of thinking and responding, your creativity
gets blocked. You miss the freshness and magic of the moment.
Learn to be innocent again, and that freshness never fades.”

~ Michael Jackson
