HISTORICAL DATES
1981 - Motown releases Michael Jackson's album & single "One Day In Your Life." a compilation of Michael Jackson's mid-1970's recordings when he was between the ages of 15 and 16. Most of the tracks are from his fourth studio album, Forever, Michael. The other songs were taken from The Jackson 5 releases. Two million copies were sold. and title track became a worldwide hit, especially in the UK.
1983 - Motown 25th Anniversary Special 'Yesterday, Today and Forever was taped today before a live studio audience at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. Michael reunited with his brothers to perform a medley of their hits and then as a solo artist to premier his own new song Billie Jean. The show will not air on NBC TV until May 16th 1983.
1991 - Michael Jackson attends the 63rd annual Academy Awards better knows as the Oscars with his Date Madonna.
They were seen out dining the previous week and was reported they were discussing collaborating on a song. All eyes were on Michael and Madonna when they appeared. Madonna performed the Oscar winning song from the movie, 'Dick Tracy' that she starred in with Warren Beatty. People Weekly magazine reports that "Michael looked positively legendary in gold-tipped cowboy boots, a blinding diamond brooch and—in a dramatic sartorial departure—two gloves. Madonna, awash in peroxide and pluck, diverted at least some of the attention from her low-cut, pearl-encrusted Bob Mackie gown with $20 million in diamonds, on loan from jeweler Harry Winston. They entered L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium and promptly collected their well-deserved Best Seat honors—front row, two on the aisle..."
2001- Michael Jackson visits Loews theater on Springfield Avenue in Newark, NJ to give away books to young people. Hoping to promote literacy, family time and health, as well as his new children's charity. The event attended by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach and Newark Councilman Cory Booker, served as the launching of the Michael Jackson International Book Club. The book club will promote childhood reading throughout the world.
