While the entertainer hasn't performed live or released a studio album since 2001, he has been making a comeback of sorts. His Thriller 25, a 25th-anniversary remix edition featuring the likes of Will.i.am and Kanye West, has been certified gold since its release in February.

Great news! That article speaks about the US version, I guess. We should stress that. So it's Gold in the U.S. alone.

It's also GOLD in France as far as I know.

That's not correct, E gets their fact incorrect all the time, the reason it wouldn't be certified GOLD here in the USA is because all the sales of Thriller 25 are being added to the original Thriller so whenever it's recertified then it would be an additional platinum award to the shipments of the original Thriller which stand now at 27X platinum

I think it's DOUBLE GOLD in France, for shipment of 150,000 copies. But the latest sale figure from France is 166,000. So maybe it's heading to platinum ? Anyone knows certification level in France?
