I love the fact that it's playing on IMAX, but I'm really annoyed they did it after the fact, since Fandango does not allow refunds, as I was hoping to catch it on IMAX. I had chalked it up that they must have decided not to show it on any of the IMAX screens here in San Diego, only to find they later decided just now. I most likely won't be buying the IMAX tickets in addition to regular tickets since I just spent loads of money getting the Opus! Plus, none of the theatres are sold out for the movie, so I could have waited. Ah well... :p
 
They did it from day 1 for me. I do live in Tampa though where we have 2 Imax theaters. One only shows Museum flicks though. But me and a few others on the board are doing midnight at the best one.

I just called the cinema where i bought my tickets for and they said that I could upgrade the tickets that I bought off of Fandango for the IMAX showing. You just have to do it before the showing of your original movie time.

Maybe you can call your cinema and ask if they will do the same thing.

thats pretty great. i wonder if the midnight screenings in Toronto will be upgraded to IMAX?

(IMAX's site doesn't list ANY canadian theatres so I'm guessing that's a no)
 
I have 1 imax in arizona but they are not playing it because they are located inside of a mall where there is harkins a major movietheatre in the valley.. mmmmm! they figure there will be no compition..

that theatre though sometimes gets movies to play right before its released on DVD.. like right now they are playing transformers 2.. so I hope that means something for THIS IS IT
 
Here in NY, my closest iMax is playing it but only once a night. I got my tickets!
 
i sooooo got tickets! there is nothing like the imax experience...the screens are so much bigger so guys if you can, get to an imax! the sound system is waaaay better. if one of the performances is "Who is it" as I heard it can be, could you imagine how amazing his dancing could be to this great bass hooked song? Im hoping hes got a great solo to it as he does on billie jean....ahhh awesome! and btw, if anyone is looking for someone to go with in the o.c. county in california, pm me and yall can meet up with me and my crowd to go watch this. the more the merrier! ive done many different events with fans and the experience is grand! good luck hunting for the imax experience..!
