This is it - to which extent would Michael have sung live?

Please forgive me, I'm sure it has discussed a million times before, but I couldn't find the related thread.

On June 24th, a new docu was shown on TV... you probably know it, there was quite a discussion about the guy who did the docu.

Anyway, I was quite surprised someone (wasn't it Wiesner?) said most of it was going to be playback, only 10% would have been performed live.
Before that, the opposite was claimed that about 90% would have been performed live.

Anybody have more info about this? I know it doesn't matter any more, I'd just like to know out of curiosity...

I would say that's bang on the money.

I did like the way they encorporated more live singing into Smooth Criminal in the film. The bridges and choruses were all live, and I loved the dragged out "Annie are you okaaaaay...." parts (does anyone know the bits I mean?).

Basically I would say the ballads would have been live and the fast songs would have been mimed, obviously as how would he sing live and dance at the same time?

In the movie some parts of the fast songs were sung live Jam, they don't care about us and Billie Jean was sung live

there are a lot of parts that are live, the songs are not the ones heard on the tapes...Michael had such a beautifull voice

I know history was far from live but i would have been expecting all of TII to be live and i know this has been argued on here before but there is really no excuse for lip syncing and if he had of done it the press would have had a feild day.

Hm but do you really think the press would have cared considering
a) Michael sang so much Playback in the past, especially the last tour
b) in Playback times like today (did they ever care when Madonna or Britney or Pink sang Playback)?

To be honest I wouldn't have cared. It would have been my first time seeing Michael live. He could have been just stood there for all I care!

I think it some songs would have been mixed between live and lip synched, like we saw in the film.

I can't remember where but Michael Beardon said that Michael wanted to sing live as much as possible but that Beardon told him that wasn't a good idea. Maybe to save his voice and with all the dancing. He would have sang live for some of the songs. I believe anyways.

Haha yeah it was going to be my first time as well, and me and my sister agreed on the day we got tickets that he could just stand up and let us scream for him and we wouldn't care. All we wanted was to just see him :/
