Michael Jackson documentary to arrive in Vietnam
Vietnam’s Galaxy Studio has obtained the rights to distribute the film “This is It,” a documentary consisting of the last images of the King of Pop before his death.
Hollywood giants like Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros vied to use valuable video footage of Michael Jackson, owned by AEG Live, to produce a documentary.
In the end, Sony won. Sony Pictures will release its documentary, entitled “This Is It,” around the world on October 28. Kenny Ortega, the director of the musical movie, “High School Musical,” and the director and choreographer for Jackson’s “This Is It” tour, directs the documentary.
Drawing from more than 100 hours of footage, Ortega selected the best images showing Jackson’s practices and behind-the-scenes shots. Fans will also see a new 3-D version of “Thriller.”
“This Is It” includes 18 songs by Michael Jackson that had been slated for his appearance at the O2 Arena in London.
“The world will see what we were lucky enough to witness and experience: the effort, the passion and the creativity that Michael Jackson invested in this project,” said Ortega.
Vietnam’s Galaxy Studio will distribute the film in Vietnam beginning November 6. Galaxy did not reveal the copyright royalties for this product.
