The Thrill Is Gone was originally released by Roy Hawkins in 1951, but made famous in 1970 by B.B. King's remake. I can't find Hawkin's version on Youtube, but samples can be heard on sites that sell his CD.

Wow...I had no idea it was somebody else's tune before B.B's
B.B. said in his autobiography that he had been singing it for a while in concert before recording it himself. B.B. had over 20,000 blues records he had been collecting over the years and that he later donated most of them to either the Smithsonian or a college. I don't remember which one exactly. He also said his favorite singer was Frank Sinatra and that Frank helped him get work in the white clubs and halls during the 1960s. Before that, B.B. mostly performed in juke joints or "Chitlin' Circuit" places. In that 1st clip of B.B. above, that was Kenny Rogers introducing him. :)
