The smooth sounds of Bossa Nova

Azymuth are about "crazy samba" lol they incorporate a lot more jazz into it, you're right but that's how i like my Brazilian fusions

but they did a lot of vocal bossas as well back in the day.

that's two Italian bossa artists mentioned in this thread, lol. weird. (other being Nicola Conte).

the only time i've come across Gabin is because of Conte's remix on their Freedom album.

i like it more than the original version, but it's not on Gabin's Freedom album, i have only this one track:









actually i find such modern fusions of bossa nova, electro jazz and other styles much more interesting than traditional raw bossa nova music, and since such innovative fusions of different styles are being made mainly in europe now, its not so weird that we have 2 italian artists here :)

lol, i was wrong, that remix is included on Freedom album, as you said, on the 2005 edition. while edition from 2004 which i own includes another track Africa instead. i didnt know that.


going back to the topic and to the roots of bossa:
here is Antonio Carlos Jobim again and his beautiful piece Insensatez, based on Chopin's prelude no 4:

since then this melancholic theme was incorporated into many pop songs, for example Black Eyed Peas Sexy, lol:



again not a strict bossa but it's interesting how it works in totally different styles.

That’s cool. I always enjoy listening to classical covers, never heard of that trio before, but they sound really good.

Also great idea to make such smooth bossa-flavored MJ covers with warm sensuous vocals.
I like especially smooth-bossa-jazzy interpretation of Billie Jean.
and instrumental version of I'll Be There. great stuff.
