The Jacksons To Record New Music After Reunion Tour

Following their long-overdue Unity Tour running across the U.S. this summer, the Jacksons plan to return to the studio and work on their first studio album since 1989's "2300 Jackson Street," eldest brother Jackie Jackson tells Billboard.com.

"That's what we gotta do -- right after the tour, we're gonna go back into the studio and start recording some new music. I can't wait," says Jackson, adding that he has stayed active in the studio over the past two decades, preparing songs for his daughter. The singer says that, sonically, a new Jacksons project would include "a little bit of today, and also a return to our sound. We're gonna keep it simple… We can't shy away from our sound."

In the meantime, Jackson and his brothers Jermaine, Marlon and Tito will break out their classic hits on their first tour in nearly three decades, which kicks off on June 18 in Louisville. Jackson says that the brothers' individual projects prevented a live trek from happening sooner, but it was something that was always on their minds.

"For many many years, we've been saying that we wanted to tour and go out, and sometimes things just don't happen the way you want them to," says Jackson. "All of our fans around the world wanted us to tour as well. So we decided to come together and just do it for the fans because they want to see it."

Rehearsals for the tour kick off on May 1, and Jackson promises a full band and some snappy choreography. "It's a challenge, because I can't move like I used to move a long time ago," says the 60-year-old Jackson, "but it's time to do it."

Of course, the absence of Michael Jackson, the superstar member of the Jacksons who died in 2009, will be fresh in Jackson fans' minds as the Unity tour gets underway. Jackie Jackson says that the upcoming shows will honor their brother's legacy, with performances of his solo songs being part of asegment of the show that will serve as a tribute to Michael.

"I just wish my brother was here with us so we could do it with him," says Jackson, "but there is gonna be some planning to dedicate some songs to Michael in the show, and I'm sure his spirit will be in the house when we're out there performing on the stage."

Although I didn't see their reality program, I do recall reading about them working on a NEW song or songS during that time period and at that time they were working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (I think those were the names, I can't remember for sure).

Does anybody know if any new songs actually materalized during the recording of their reality program?

If they feel as though they want to come out with new music...I wish them luck. Like I said before I am sure they have some fans somwhere that are still interested in buying their music.

Jackie erased them if I remember rightly.

"1, 2, 3 - Jackson family dynasty... Jackson family dynasty 4 life"

I wish them success. Still do not get why they did not record anything in the past 23 years.

You know..., I like the 2300 jackson Street album without Michael, but...., now..., who knows... they cant pretend they are mid 30...

I don't remember that album. So the brothers DID record music without Michael, how was it received by the public. Does anybody remember.

Why in the world did he do that!

Doesn't sound like a healthy working environment, if somebody can just ERASE music for "whatever" reason.

Did they play that music on the reality program before Jackie erased it?

reception wasn't that good. didn't do much for them, tho they did have a Michael singing the chorus of their cheeky song/video 2300 jackson street.

even he couldn't save them by appearing in the video, tho Michael was at the height of his fame with BAD, and all. the only album they released was 2300 jackson street in 1989, Michael wasn't part of it, and if I'm not mistaken Marlon wasn't either.

OT but around the same time Katherine and the other's were after him for those Korean MOON concerts.

Yes thats how it went.

Um I think because Jermaine was on lead vocals and Jackie wanted to use a different producer. I think - It's been a long time since I saw the show.

Yes they did play it.

You can probably watch the series on-line if you search.

I am happy for them; and, at the least I am interested in how it will sound.

I looked at the show and I can't remember them finishing the songs. They were disorganized. The song writers were asking them who would sing the lead and Jermaine said him and the others were silent. I do not know if after they show they got other people to write more songs to fill an album. Jackie was upset because the 2 guys who were creating the songs were used by Janet, and he was concerned that they were on Janet's turf. However, they got over that hurdle.

I watched the Family dynasty and thought that the time they filmed studio thing wasn't for real:)
Normally musicians go to studio when they have everything ready to record a song, it's not a place to start thinking what kind of song we are going to record or who is singing. All those things have to be thought and done before hand, recording sessions are very expensive, so they were messing there at A&E cost, or were using their friends studio as a stage for their acting.

I remember that the other way around, that Jermaine didn't want to work with Jimmy Jam. But I may be wrong, it's been awhile since I saw it.

Everybody is entitled to earn a living and I think it's good that they are in the studio doing their own thing, on their own.

their basically forced to get their butts off and go and do something of their own. Michael's ghost can't be harasses and blackmailed.

^^^ Maybe, idk. It seems before as we saw in the series that they couldn't get their act together, but now there is so much interest in all things Jackson they would be truly stupid if they couldn't pull it together now - and if they are happy knowing that then so be it. And before you say it, yes I feel that resentment as well, but sadly it's how it is. But I wish them well and am pleased for their own self esteem that they looking to do their own stuff.

2300 Jackson Street is the fifteenth and most recent studio album released by American Pop/R&B group The Jacksons, and their final album for record label Epic, released in the United States on May 28, 1989 (see 1989 in music). Their final album debuted at #59 on the Billboard 200 and at #14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and would sell over half a million copies worldwide.[SUP][2]

[/SUP]For most of this album, The Jacksons consisted of Jermaine, Jackie, Randy, and Tito Jackson.
and Michael Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Rebbie, and Janet appear on the title track

It is not the other way around, it is just that with Jermaine he had different issues about it from Jackie.

The Jacksons don't want to put the cart before the horse, so the group has cancelled their first two concerts because they've been busy recording their new album ... TMZ has learned.

The group announced this week they are canceling shows in Louisville and Cincinnati, which a rep for the band chalked up to "scheduling conflicts."

But a source close to the Jacksons tells TMZ the brothers (Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito) want to finish their studio album before they hit the road so they can perform the new tracks on tour.

We're told the Jacksons want to make up the missed dates, but nothing is planned so far.

The tour is scheduled to (probably) kick off on June 20 in Rama, ON, Canada.

Actually, it's more like SEVEN (or eight) shows have been cancelled. But hey, who's counting. LOL!

Sometimes, not always, but sometimes, it's best to just be silent, otherwise you end up sounding foolish, in my opinion.

New album? OMG!!!! :fear:

I hope they are simply doing this more so for the love of music and maybe expecting a small financial gain.. If they are expecting more than that they may be crippling themselves.

^^It seems now that they will sing songs from the album during the tour. I thought before the plan was to do the show and then come out with an album.

Jackson - The Jacksons to work with will.i.am?

The Jacksons have hinted they may work with some of the top producers in the world, including will.i.am and David Guetta.

The four brothers - Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito, siblings of the late Michael Jackson - are heading to the studio to work on a comeback album next year, and have a number of big name producers lined up to work with them.
Jackie exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''We're gonnna do what people want to hear - The Jacksons, but we're also going to add the new elements of today's generation with that music as well, from the heart and soul.

When asked if they would work with producers David Guetta or Will.i.am, Jackie added: ''There's a lot of that going on as well, collaboration. I can't give anything away yet. You already said them! We're talking to a lot of people, and we love surprises, so can't say anymore.''

The group will head to Europe on their Unity tour at the beginning of next year and Tito says there are many groups from the continent who influenced The Jackson 5's early soul-funk sound.

He said: ''There was a great influence, The [Rolling] Stones, the Bee Gees and some of the work of The Beatles when Billy Preston was working with them. There's a lot of European influence on our sound. And I think they were getting influenced by American acts, music is a universal language and there are only eight notes.''
