I Mean why get yourself info bad business deals and scams that could get you into lawsuits. they need to make amends with the Estate (since they need their permission to use anything involving MJ) and talk with Motown & CBS Records so they can come out with genuine projects they can bring in some good cash to split among themselves

For Example
release Outakes from the 1976-1984 Jackson albums
the Triumph Tour concert at the La froum was recorded for home Release
Some Of the Victory tour shows were recorded for laserdiscs
release deluxe editions of the Jacksons albums
Have CBS Records Release The Jacksons variety Show On Dvd

Not a complete list but here's one

I think the soings written by MJ, MJ had ownership of and the family would not be able to release them without permission.

I don't know eager the Estate, Motown or CBS would be to enter into an agreement with the family members. But, I guess they could try.

oh yeah you're right, wait MJ's own the group master recordings too? if so tough luck, maybe that's why all the shady deals are happening

You know, if they are able to record their songs with Michael's voice on it, I would definitely buy them. Maybe they could tweek the instrumentation or something to make it more current. However, as Ginviv said we don't know who own the rights, and if they could have done it before, maybe they would. Joe might have thought of this idea. Didn't Motown retain the name? Maybe Motown has control of more rights as well.

Yes.... BUT I think we should not give ideas to the Jackson family. You know... :fear:

I'm Jaywonder/Bboy87. I only use "mj_brainiac" here on MJJC :)
The brothers most likely own the ownership rights or partial rights to the 1976-84 catalog's master recordings along with the Michael Jackson Estate or will starting next year (ownership rights revert back to the artists after 30-35 years after the release of the album). Until the time comes, the ownership of The Jacksons, Goin' Places, Destiny, Triumph, The Jacksons Live!, and Victory is owned by Sony (the rights to "The Jacksons" LP likely reverts back to them next year since the 35 year period will be up)

The issue of unreleased material is a bit different, since Michael had rights to it also and they can't really use his likeness without the permission of his estate, and it can't be released on another label since Sony may own rights to the vault material also. They would have to work out a deal with the Estate and Sony to do that. It's the reason why I want the brothers and the MJ estate to put aside their differences so they can re-release all the albums and possibly live footage

Also, with the Motown material, the brothers don't have ANY rights to it. Michael, Jackie, Tito, and Marlon surrendered the rights to the material back in 1980 if I recall. Motown/Universal can do whatever they want with the 1969-75 material. Remember the scene J5 reality show where Jackie and Marlon went into Amoeba Music in Los Angeles and laughed about with all the albums and compilations that Motown has released, they could have a whole section in the store LOL

Yeah its all about ownership.which i doubt they have for most of the songs

From what I know, for Sony/Legacy to release reissues of the 1976-89 catalog, they'd have to get permission from all the brothers and Michael's estate, which is a feat in itself LOL

it terms of publishing, they do own the songs. They could get ownership of the master tapes to "The Jacksons", "Goin' Places", and "Destiny" next year

Jackson written songs on the 1976-84 albums:
Blues Away (Michael)
Style of Life (Tito and Michael)

Different Kind Of Lady (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)

Do What You Wanna (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)
Push Me Away (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)
Things I Do For You (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)
Destiny (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)
Bless His Soul (Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy)
Shake Your Body (Randy And Michael)
All Night Dancing (Randy and Michael)
That's What You Get (Randy and Michael)

Can You Feel It (Jackie and Michael)
Lovely One (Michael and Randy)
Your Ways (Jackie)
Everybody (Michael, Tito, and Mike McKinney)
Heartbreak Hotel (Michael)
Time Waits For No One (Randy and Jackie)
Walk Right Now (Randy, Michael, and Jackie)
Give It Up (Michael and Randy)
Wondering Who (Jackie and Randy)

Torture (Jackie and Kathy Wakefield)
Wait (Jackie and David Paich)
One More Chance (Randy)
Be Not Always (Michael and Marlon)
State Of Shock (Michael and Randy Hansen/Freddie Mercury)
We Can Change The World (Tito and Wayne Arnold)
The Hurt (Michael,Randy, David Paich, and Steve Porcaro)
Body (Marlon)

If they come to an agreement and work together, then FULL reissues with outtakes, 12' mixes, and alternate mixes could happen)

It does not seem as though they are interested in this venture.
