Has the era of music videos (or short films) come to an end?
The golden era of music videos was in the 80's and 90's but since then even M(music)TV has pretty much stopped playing music videos. Do people care about music videos anymore? And what about the quality and artistry of music videos? Are they as exciting as they were before? What I've seen I think many bands have gone back to the simple way, just a band playing their song for video. There isn't a story in it anymore, just visual effects.
Where does Michael Jackson fit in on this? Does he really need a short film for his single?
If MTV doesn't play music anymore does an artist/a band need a video for their singles? Is it even a loss in the music industry? After all, the music came first and people listened to it and enjoyed it without a video.
Or will music videos get a new home on the internet?
