This thread is to tell you all about an artist and a wonderful person who deserves much more credit and recognition than he gets: William "Duce" Branch, a.k.a. The Ambassador. Some of you might know him from the hiphop group The Cross Movement, which is a christian hiphop group that has received national attention, a grammy nomination, mentions in Time Magazine and The Source magazine.
The Ambassador has reached and touched countless lives. He has released many albums with the Cross Movement and three albums on his own, all of which are amazing. I will give you some samples from them at the end of this post. He has a master's degree in theology, and he is also a teaching pastor at a church in Philadelphia, which he helped plant for underprivileged inner city youth, and his vision has always been to reach out to young people with the gospel through hiphop and to put Christ into a hiphop culture that is extremely immoral and negative, and to use hiphop for good instead. He also travels the country combining his awesome concert with sermons to reach young people. He has been a huge inspiration to me personally in my walk with God, which has been a struggling one in recent years. But lately I've gotten into it again thanks to his amazing music.
Now I know excactly what you are thinking: A christian hiphop artist?! He's gotta totally suck musically! But no. He is on par with all of the best hiphop artists out there and not only is he amazing lyrically but he also writes extremely inspirational songs. Let me give you some samples. Do yourselves a favor and check them out. They are really inspirational, beautiful and have affected my life in a great way
