This thread is dedicated to everything about the magnificant Amazon Rainforest! Post pictures, news articles and comments about this "lung of the world"!! Me starting
[h=2]Sting and his wife Trudie Styler have gathered together the who's who of Hollywood for a concert in aid of their Rainforest Fund charity.[/h]The show at Carnegie Hall in New York saw performances from Jennifer Hudson, Sir Elton John and Bruno Mars.
Styler produced the event, teaming unlikely pairs for rare performances.
When asked what it was like working with her rock star husband, Sting jokingly interrupted: "I'm a pain in the ass actually."
"They've all been terrific, they have been working so hard for two days and it's all material that isn't their material. Songs from the silver screen and everybody was such a good sport and really worked really hard," added Styler.
Sting started the organisation in 1989 with the goal of protecting the Amazon rainforest and the land of its indigenous people.
Since then, the couple has saved over 28 million acres of forest around the world.
Good friend and fellow musician Elton John said the fundraiser is one not to be missed.
"It's probably one of the most fun things you could ever do. What kind of event would you expect to see Meryl Streep singing with Jennifer Hudson and Bryn Terfel and Channing Tatum dancing and Rosanne Cash and Vince Gill, you know?
"It was just such a programme - and Bruno Mars, who is astonishing, and Esperanza Spalding.
"It's like a wish list of people you've never played with so, it's one of the most, it's the most fun thing to do," said Elton.
