I think MJ does some really cool ad libs. I love the ad libs during the performances of Working Day And Night and Beat It. Also the ad libs at the end of She Drives Me Wild is really cool

I like this thread topic. Thanks!

Can you post the adlib's from "She drives me wild", I forgot what you are talking about.

I like the adlib's at the end of '' For all time".
He says: I need you
don't leave me( repeated over and over), but we don't hear it on the T25. a fan shared it with me but I
lost the link.
Also the adlib's in '"don't walk away", when he is pleading and repeatedly saying, '"please". '"please", throughout the chorus. He sounds so sad and sincere.

I like the ones at the end of She Drives Me Wild. It's like scatting, and no one does that anymore, so its quite unique.

Michael's timing and sense of musicality is amazing. You really get that when you hear him ad-lib. "Who Is It" is really something. To sing the way Michael sings is practically impossible.

To me, his ad libing is the best! I've heard many singers, and their ad libs. I'm in a jazz group, and I am so picky when it comes to scatting and ad libing, and the reason I am picky is because of Michael! He just seems to have this great ear for what is good and where it sounds best. He knows when to improvise and also when to shut up and let the music tell the story.

Most of my favorite MJ ad-libs come during his live performances:

-"You wanna paaarrrtayy!" during WBSS chanting portion, Bad Tour
-"I'm so tired of workin' for ya!" - Working Day and Night, Triumph Tour (live album)
-:"Ya knooowww I'm baaaad, I'm baaad babe"- second to last verse of "Bad"
-"Doggone luuuuvah!" - Billie Jean, HIStory Tour

I'm sure I can think of more. Excellent thread choice, btw.

Totally Ivorykeys. Also the way Michael often sings in this staccatto style, where he shortens or so cleanly cuts off a word or a phrase is amazing.

"Don't bother me / just don't do it / tired of, tired of, aint but a nutter brother / don't be judging / can't you really see I'm looonely!!!!"

Who Is It ad libs

masterful. on one hand he's softly and nervously pleading "i never was; we never were" and then blasts into the whole "TAA'DA TAAA'DA"

the a cappella really isolates the rawness.

Oh wow. You're posting too much awesome stuff arXter, I can't keep up with it, lol. Michael's got such a powerful voice too. And so expressive. It's just intense and such perfect timing, he knows just when to come in and for how long to draw it out.. I'd love to have that as a donwload as well. Only if you're able to get around to it though, I don't want to seem demanding, lol.

haha don't worry, it's already uploaded courtesy of MjMedia:

Who Is It (DVD Acapella)

it's unofficial, so mods need not worry (isolated from one of the 5.1 channels of the Dangerous DVD).

The ad libs on the extended version of Bad are also really cool

''Who's bad, who's bad, who's really really bad''

Cant Let Her Get Away! Woot! Thats the one yall!
By far one of my favorites. He be jammin' on there.
Also THRILLER! Yes, THRILLER! Lol. Seriously....check it out. :)

OMGaaawd! The WHO IS IT and GIVE IN TO ME ad libs....awesome!

At the moment my favourite MJ adlibs are at the end of IJCSLY and Liberian Girl. wow, they're just mindblowing. Especially in IJCSLY live, wowwww.

OH MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Michael is the best ad-libber EVER!! lol.

THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING POLITE: Don't cha you / don't cha know / don't cha you know!!!"
*faint* I KNOW!!!
"don't cha knoooooooow. don't cha know, he cries, he cries because there is a lack of loooove"

LOVE this song, and I've been known to remind that part alot, lol. The ad libs in that song are amazing, especially when the "jack stiiiillllll" part starts..

DON'T WALK AWAY: "I won't forget you gurrrl / I won't forget gurrrrrl / I won't forget gurrrrl!"
Don't EVEN get me started on this song......

Especially in IJCSLY live, wowwww.

Not being funny but what is an 'ad lib' ?

hmmmm...how to explain "ad-lib"

I guess ad-libs are when Michael (or any other artist) says/sings things in their song that aren't written on the lyric sheet...... the things that he makes up (mainly during the choruses) and sings..... there are alot of examples in this thread!!

Y'all mentioned all the great ones! Not sure if this belongs to ad libs, but how about "Ho!" in Cheater? The woman who cheated on him (of course, according to the lyrics) deserves that tough-sounding "Ho!".

Reading this thread makes me appreciate his ad libs in that he does deliver authentic emotions by ad libbing as well as singing the lyrics. IMO, many of the ad libs y'all picked are his gut-level expressions, not carefully planned to impress listeners, but we feel them regardless. Another proof of his genious.

If you ain't on that level of genious, you're simply so busy finding ways to cater to your audience, without not much space left to express yourself freely.

I REALLY want to know how that song turned out cause it sounded like it was gonna be beautiful!!!!!!!!! :(

Best ad-libs EVER: ''Stand up for ya brother.. stand up for ya sister.. you know it, you know, you do, you do.. awwwh..! The black man gonna make a change, the white man gonna make a change..! You gotta start it brother.. you gotta lift yourself.. You gotta move!''

Yep, that's one of those parts that got you sayin "Sang it Mike!"

On the Line---When he's starts shouting "Gotta put lost (sounds more like this rather than "gotta put your")~you and me" with the quoir keeping singing the chorus in the background. Speechless....Soulful. I always got to rewind to hear the part a few more times.
