The hip-hop stars were out at Sunday night’s (May 22) 2011 Billboard Awards in Las Vegas, NV. Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Mary J. Blige and Lil Wayne were all in attendance.
Rihanna and Brittany Spears kicked things off with a sexy remix of the Bajan beauty’s hit single “S&M.” Rihanna took the stage in an all white bondage outfit complete with chains. Spears emerged mid-tune in a black get-up with a black mask, and then the two pop-starlets rocked the crowd with some pole dancing and a pillow fight.
Spears would take the stage once again in a joint performance with Nicki Minaj. The Pink Friday rapper rocked her latest track “Super Bass” then gave way to Brittany and her “Till the World Ends” single.
Lil Wayne hooked up with Mary J. Blige as they performed the Diddy-Dirty Money collaboration “Someone to Love Me” sans Diddy-Dirty Money. Cee-Lo, Black Eye Peas, Ne-Yo and Pitbull also took the stage.
Eminem took home six awards including the “Top Artist” award, “Top Billboard 200 Album” award and “Top Rap Song” for his Rihanna duet “Love the Way You Lie.” Rih-Rih snagged three BMAs herself including “Top Female Artist,” while the Black Eyed Peas earned “Top Duo/Group” honors.
Beyoncé won the Billboard Millennium Award. Prior to receiving the award Bey was honored by her father Matthew Knowles, First Lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Bono, The-Dream, Stevie Wonder, Babyface, her sister Solange, Barbra Streisand in a video montage. After the clip with the various luminaries singing Bey’s praises, she took the stage and delivered a spirited performance of her “Runs the World (Girls)” single. Her mother Tina then presented Beyoncé with the award that she graciously accepted. During her thank you speech Bey thrilled the audience when she thanked her “best friend” and husband proclaiming, “I love me some Jay-Z.”
