Michael Jackson's Children Busy Restoring Their Dad's Beloved Neverland Ranch Home
Four years ago, King of Pop's 3,000-acre site lay in ruins, but his kids put estate well on the road to recovery

Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch is looking better after his children began restoring the infamous 3,000-acre estate near Santa Barbara.




SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Four years ago, Neverland lay in ruins after Michael Jackson’s death. The fair rides were rusting away, the staff had been dismissed and the grounds were abandoned.
But thanks to the efforts of Michael Jackson’s children, the 3,000-acre site is well on the road to recovery.

According to sources close to the estate in Los Olivos, Calif., the family has taken little interest in Neverland and not one person has visited it since his death in 2009 — apart from Prince, 16, Paris, 15, and Blanket, 12.

Paris spoke out last week about her heartbreaking visit to Neverland two years ago to find it in ruins, saying she is determined to rebuild Neverland to its former glory so that underprivileged children can enjoy it.

Pictures prove the children have won the battle of wills with the Jackson family.
At Neverland last week, household staff and security said that *****’s siblings or parents have never bothered to visit Neverland since his death. But they only had words of praise for the children, with one security guard saying: “Neverland has been completely revitalized. There’s a full set of staff and people in charge who care about the place.”

The bright yellow flowers spelling Neverland have been restored next to the main house, but this time flowers shaped in a butterfly have been added to one bed. There’s also a new section in the gardens of an image of a boy in a moon, similar to Peter Pan — the favorite fairy-tale character of Michael Jackson and his children.

The bustling fairground has been replaced with a tranquil “Zen garden.” The Ferris wheel, swings and other fairground rides have been removed, and expert horticulturists have replaced them with a calm seating area surrounded by lush topiary carved into animal shapes.

Red tail kites, brown eagles and turkey buzzards are nesting in the grounds and grassland, which are irrigated and mowed daily. The fountains and pool has been filled with water again.
“Neverland has never looked better,” said a source. “More staff have been employed — they’ve got full-time gardeners, household staff, proper security and people are now looking after the house like it should have always been when Michael was alive.”

Love hearing this update on Neverland, life needs to be brought back to that place for people to enjoy. Cudos to Michael's kids.

I wonder how much the Kids can do with Neverland since they don't own it entirely. I still don't like this outside owner factor and hope they can somehow pay him out as soon as possible.

Good to know that Michael's kids care about Neverland,this wondrous place that was their home after all for many years, to restore it to its former glory. I hope it will be opened to underprivileged kids once more in the future!

Makes me emotional to learn this. It is such a beautiful place in such a beautiful area. I so appreciate Paris' vision for Neverland's future. Sweet.

(and Aww...I like the butterflies...they sort of make me think of the word "hope.")

Of course none of that is true ... To date the children have nothign to do with the restoration and upkeep of Neverland. This story has been fabricated and twisted from a few comment paris made in her recent interviews. Please know Just because a story seems positive doesn't meant it is true or factual.

This above quote is true .. but it isn't because the children took over and caused it as the story infers
Colonial Capital has been caring for the property and grounds since Michael went into partnership with them holding part interest in the property. Michaels children have nothing to do with the restoration of Neverland to date. Let's not forget Larry Nimmers visit in 2011. The gardens and grounds have been completley restored and .. MJ himself had the rides removed before his death. So they could renovate the property.

Paris didn't say it was in ruins either. She said the ferris wheel was gone and it still has good energy and she would would like to restore it back to what it was when she is old enough. That very sweet, she wants to do that.. but she hasn't done anything yet. She isn't old enough nor does she have the authority to do that.. She also didn't cause colonial caprital to restore it. They have been doing that since day One.

If we know our History, we won't get caught up in these fabricated stories.

One day Paris may restore it Back to its former glory but as of yet she hasn't done that. :)

But who write fake stories without checking out the facts. This is becoming a major problem in the media. The only thing of value here are the photos.

Also to say "Neverland never looked better" ^^ is false, since the place looked the most beautiful when Michael lived there and restored it. The "source" must be someone who never visited it before when Michael was alive, or is comparing it to how it was after Michael left or after his death to now.

Yes Michael's Estate has 80 something percent interest in the property. So once the children are old enough they can petition the estate to help them or once they take possession when they are older.. But as of right now that whole story was fabricated and is spreading lies/ misinformation about neverland and about Michael's children's involvement with it.

Well, the pictures of the well kept landscape at Neverland Valley Ranch are real, and I think the authors probably did talk to some of the current employees at the Neverland Valley Ranch.

Yes it's true the grounds have been restored and people are there taking care of the house and grounds, :) but they were contributing all that to something Paris, Prince and Blanket did, which is false... The Title the headline and everything in that article was misleading and a lie. It was fabricated... contributing that to Michael's children is false.

Normally we would have moved such a story to controversy forum as a Tabloid story, but because of the positive aspects of the story showing the restoration of the grounds, We left it in here with a disclaimer.

I have a question...I wonder why if the property name was purposely changed back to Sycamore Valley Ranch, why they are keeping with using "Neverland" on the grounds within the landscape? I like that touch a lot...but it does seem inconsistent.

@qbee thats exactly what i dont understand. I am more then happy they are looking after the ranch, but how do they have so much to say about it? So the Estate must have approved right?

@Lisha as far as i know the name is officially changed but this is something thats always have been at the main entrance. Other then that since the Estate owns more then half of it they have more of a 'say' in it about the flowers as they are just flowers:ermm:
 
I will never be able to view an article that calls Neverland 'infamous' as favourable (1st photo caption refers...'the infamous 3,000 acre estate'.) This writer is just attacking Michael under cover of writing about the children.

Yes the Estate owns the majority holding in the property. BUT It is Colonial Capital that manages and cares for the house, grounds and property.

But thats exactly why i was wondering why CC cares for it while moste of it belongs to the Estate. Did they make some kind of agreement on who does what or something?

As far as I remember when they bought out Michael's loan in 2008, they took on operational costs for Neverland and that has been the arrangement ever since: they take care of it. Neverland is an interesting topic - for example, I still don't understand how Michael's share went from 50% in 2008 to 87.5% in 2012. Is the Estate buying it out? Is Colony Capital willing to sell their share back to the estate? That would be one of the questions I would ask to John Branca if he ever agreed to a Q&A.

I could be wrong but I believe I heard that the estate refuted this story some months back.
 
Yes the story is false. Colonial capital is overseeing and has restored the property.
