He came second on the first season of Idol. He has always said that Michael is one of his musical inspirations and he is a fan who always acknowledges Michael.

How it all started...

Him doing I want You Back on Idol 2004. This is a funny one HAHA. He messes up the lyrics real bad because he hadnt slept for two days, staying up late at night to practice the song to make the cut. The judges liked him anyway.
