i would think that anything that was at the scene at the time was into evidence???....I think this story is trash.
 
Surely that syringe would be considered evidence in a trial and is being held by the authorities along with other items from the home/bedroom?

And just how would/could a seller provide verifiable proof that this is indeed one and the same syringe?

Is the Telegraph a legit newspaper or a known tabloid?

It's a broadsheet in the UK,but it's sister paper is the tabloid The Daily Mirror.
