(6-8-2010) Jon Chu, director of the wildly popular dance movies, Step Up 2 and Step Up 3-D, recently said in an interview that he was inspired by the Michael Jackson Disney film, Captain EO.
Chu, who's first directing job was Step Up 2, was asked why he decided to shoot the third Step Up movie in 3-D. Chu replied,
"With 3-D I felt we could take the language of dance and elevate it to another level and make it even more emotional. I thought of Captain EO and I wanted to continue what that did but in a different way. I remember as I kid thinking that was magic, and that’s why I make movies, to tell fairy tales to an audience. I thought of what Michael Jackson would do."
