Star Wars is now 40 years old. The movie was released on May 25, 1977. One of my favorite movies ever.

I wasn't born yet when Star Wars came out, but I grew up with the movies nonetheless because my parents had them recorded on tape from TV, and then later we got them on VHS and then DVD. I also did see the re-release of the movies in theaters for the 20th anniversary, which was exciting in spite of Lucas's meddling. Happy 40th Star Wars! I think the legacy for Star Wars will last a really long time.
