Songwriters who compose their music just by singing

I've always been interesting in artist who compose their own music just by singing the music parts to other musicians to play for them. Does anyone know what artists compose music in this way?

So far i got

Michael Jackson - Michael himself has said that when he writes music he sings the melody into a tape recorder and Bill Botrell has said that Michael sang the guitar riff from Black Or White to him and someone (Can't remember who sorry) also said that he/she saw Michael singing the string parts of his songs to a full room string players.
