This song is so amazing, his vocals on there are just simply beautiful. I really can not find words... its magic when he sings the lyrics.

What do u guys think about the song. Any info about the song?
Why did Michael never perform this song on his tours?

Well it was released on the E.T. storybook which Michael narrated in '82, but that was only ever released on vinyl and cassette and went out of print ages ago. The song has never been released on an album (unless you count the Ultimate Collection which only came out in 2004) so most people going to his concerts probably wouldn't have even known the song existed unless they owned the E.T. Storybook. And obviously youtube and filesharing sites didn't exist back in the 80s and early-mid 90s lol. I'm sure Michael preferred to perform songs that people could sing along to.

I agree...I adore this song so much...Everytime I see stars at night, I think of this song, and know MJ is watching over everyone. I remember hearing this song for the first time in years a couple of days ago, and I forgot about the ET connection, and when ET says in the song, "I LOVE YOU" I just about freaked out...and I thought I was hearing things...lol!
 
I love this song.. I listen to it every night before bed
 
I absolutely adore this song! :heart: I have it on a Thriller Special Edition CD, which I bought a few years back. After Michael's passing, I first coudn't listen to it without crying but it's getting easier now. It's such a beautiful song!

It's been my everything for a little while now.
Cant add any info to whats been said, but I heard it on the special edition Thriller CD with the Quincy Jones interviews.
 
Good Lord, I was literally just randomly listening to this song when I saw this thread. Creepy ****. That is all.
 
That song is BEATIFUL, now that someone in the dark to me is Michael, i wish to find him in the stars, in the dark the most shining star thats Michael, i loved that song so much before, but now it has a deeper meaning, it always did, but with what happenned, i just think of Michael, the brightest star at night, thats him
 
The ET Storybook was put out by MCA Records. CBS Records sued MCA and the record was discontinued. CBS claimed that MCA didn't get permission to use Michael. CBS also blocked Arista Records from releasing "Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming" as a single.
 
this song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. And sometimes, I'll just have it on repeat forever! He sings it with so much emotion, and the lyrics are amazing! Definitely a beautiful song.
And i want "tell me i'm not dreaming"!!!!! come on cbs, geez!!
 
I had the ET Storybook on record as a kid.. I still have it actually I'm looking right at it on my bookshelf. I loved this song and the storybook too, it's my first MJ memory. :wub:

I have it but it I can send it to you if you'd like. I don't have the storybook though... I mean I do, in my old album, but i don't have it on the computer that I can send you as a file. I guess you don't really need it.
 
Yeah, I was gonna say... it was on the Thriller Special Edition. Love this song. I always felt like Michael was somehow my someone in the dark when I listened. I always kind of sang it to him. It makes me cry everytime I hear it now, though. "Promise me we'll always be walking the world together." OUCH. :cry:
