Grammy Nominations: 2010 List

Because it's a new recording (not the 1976 version), not a re-release or a remix. It's the same as if someone else remade it, like Bill Withers winning a Grammy in the mid 1980s for Club Neuveau's remake of "Lean On Me". When a song was written is irrelevant.

so...if MJ releases wanna be startin somethin, and it happens to sound a little different, and has AKOn as a guest, it is not the same as Hall and Oates, putting out a new recording of Sara Smile, without rearranging the song? aren't they both new recordings, except one act decided not to rearrange the song? Michael's vocals are new, and it's not a rerelease, and it's not a remix of the eighties wbss...it's a remix done in a new recording.

I really have no interest in award shows, so I don't care who is nominated. They're phony, and always has been. It's all bribery and record business politics, maybe Sony didn't campaign for Mike to be nominated. The voters don't just pick what gets nominated out of thin air from the hundreds or thosands of records released every year. The record companies submit the music for the voters to nominate. They also supply money or that stuff that they give the performers in those gift baskets. A lot of the stuff isn't even listened to by the commitee. Do you really think that they all listen to whatever is nominated for "Best Spoken Word" or "Best Polka" or "Best Native American"?

no..actually i don't. i agree with that. that's why i don't respect awards, like i used to during the beginning of Michaelmania. but i do feel the awards committees were swept up in the Michaelmania, at first, and all of MJ's awards are legit...but later, with the media hate against MJ, it was easier for them to get more political..this is why, even tho some may not agree with me, and tho it may be flawed to some, for me, the greatest award a musician can get is when consumers plop down their money for that artist. and for me personally, that's MJ's greatest reward. and, quite frankly, he outsold a lot of people, and the later award snubs cannot erase that. and i do respect the WMA's and other awards that do go by sales. the majority of people are swept up, financially..., and acknowledge it..by good music.

Exactly..... its alot of politics and things going on behind the scenes... Look at everyone being nominated. Its very predictable just like it is every single year. I really could care less about it.
