Re: Smokey & the Miracles - I Can't Stand to See You Cry

NOTE: "I Can't Stand to See You Cry" was the FINAL recording by the Miracles to include Smokey & Claudette Robinson. The couple had left the group that July during a "farewell tour" with 'em. This was released in November 1972 and hit #45 pop and #21 R&B in early 1973. It was an end of an era as they say for a group whose first charted single came 13 years earlier in 1959 ("Bad Girl")!

Love Smokey:blush:. Is it just me, or he has kept out of the general public eye throughout most of his career except when performing?

^ No it's not just you. ^_^

That's why it kinda shocks you when you realize he survived a lot of mess in the business that everyone else survived from.

I thought Claudette left the group in the mid-1960s. Smokey has this cajun frozen food line today.

^ No. Claudette left the group as a TOURING PERFORMER because of difficulties on the road that led to miscarriages with her and Smokey's children. Claudette can be clearly heard on this song.
