according to a witness on scene, the shots were fired approximately 3-4 houses away from the where the mj tour was going down.

There were already cops in the area for the a minor disturbance at the jackson event (see photo above, taken before shots were fired), and we're told they rushed over to where the shots came from.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... One officer was attacked by a dog, and had to shoot it to get it to stop. No word yet on the condition of the dog.

Story developing ...

A police officer investigating trespassers at Michael Jackson's former Las Vegas home shot and wounded a pit bull Saturday after it broke through the fence of a nearby residence and attacked him.

Las Vegas police Lt. James Weiskopf said patrol officers were dispatched about 12:40 p.m. to 2710 Palomino Lane, near Rancho Drive and Charleston Boulevard, where the pop star formerly lived.

A tour of the home had been scheduled to remember Jackson on the second anniversary of his death, but some fans had entered the property early.

About an hour after officers arrived, Weiskopf said police noticed a man with a warrant for his arrest walking toward Shetland Road, a nearby side street.

When one officer attempted to follow the man, a pit bull broke through a backyard on Shetland and attacked the officer.

The officer shot and wounded the dog. The homeowners were notified and took the animal to a veterinarian.

The suspect was not located.

"After the shooting, we weren't concerned anymore about him (the suspect)," Weiskopf said. "We just wanted to make sure the family was aware and to make sure the animal got the care it needed."

The dog's condition was not immediately known.

It appears to be unrelated, and it was just a coincidence that the man was there, and a pit bull somehow broke free and attacked the officer. TMZ really distorted the story.

A photo of Michael Jackson is displayed in a home where the entertainer used to live in Las Vegas, Nevada June 25, 2011. The homeowner opened a portion of the home to the public to mark the second anniversary of the entertainer's death.

Very pretty, but that should have been a thread of its own. I wouldn't want something that beautiful to be mixed up with that weird pit bull story.

So like is that the house where mj passed away?

That's weird.
It's lovely what they did at the house though.

So was the owner of the house charging?

Yes, that sucker was charging! This is the same man who sued MJ's Estate after 5 years when MJ passed, claiming MJ had torn the house up to the tune of $250,000-No, you can't make this shit up:scratch:The Estate paid him, but less than what he claimed...

TMZ once again making something out of nothing, anything to print Michael Jackson's name.
