I just watched "An American Warewolf in London" for the first time in my life. And what I realized there was a scene in the movie where the protagonist goes to a porn movie theater and there are posters in front of the theater advertising the movie and the title of it is "See You Next Wednesday". It immediately reminded me of the fact that you can hear this sentence in "Thriller" too when Michael and his girlfriend are sitting in the movies and someone in the film says "See You Next Wednesday".

I made a google research of it and this is what I found:

"See You Next Wednesday is a recurring gag in most of the films directed by John Landis, usually referenced as a fictional film. No version of See You Next Wednesday in any Landis film ever looks the same as it did in any previous Landis film."

In An American Werewolf in London (1981), SYNW is a porn film being shown in a seedy London porno theater. Advertised as "A Non-Stop Orgy," scenes from the movie are actually shown as the characters talk in the theater. A poster of SYNW can also be seen on the wall in the Tube station.

In the Michael Jackson music video Thriller (1983), it is spoken by a deputy in the horror movie Michael and his girlfriend are watching, and also visible as a poster on the outside of the cinema as they leave.

It's also in Black or White:

In the Michael Jackson music video Black or White (1991) SYNW is shown on the window which Michael Jackson throws a garbage can through, the window is that of a company named "See You Next Wednesday Storage Co."

WHOA! Great info as always, respect77.

Just the other day I was wondering about that phrase but forgot to make a research.
Thanks so much for this info, I never would have thought it.
And in BOW too? wow, I have to see that now. We always learn something new about MJ :D

I didn't know this ^, but having looked into info on John Landis Films, I like that SYNW is also referenced in his 'Kentucky Fried Movie'...and the SYNW film in this is apparently filmed in the 'Thriller' cinema.

(Landis's original inspiration was apparently : "see you next wednesday" is the last sentence spoken by a human being in "2001 - a space odyssey" by Kubrick before HAL starts to kill the crew off. it is said by bowman's parents in the transmission from earth he watches. )

lol this is so funny i always get this saying in my head and i know ive heard it from something to do with Michael just never remembered from where now i know :D

Yes it's his schtick. i've read about it before but thanks for reminding ;)
By the way there are also many interesting things in "dancing/crushing" part in Black or White

I thought it had a racist remark, since in BOW breaks words like: "no more wet backs, KKK rules, etc" but now I know it's like an interesting trade mark which is cool. :D
