Up until now, the only picture of Joe Jackson's father Samuel Jackson that I knew of was this:

But now, someone posted this on Twitter. A picture of Samuel Jackson holding the Thriller LP. He looks exactly like Joe! Those are some strong Jackson family genes.

So is this photo real or photoshopped?

Samuel's background (taken from my site: http://kingmichaelj.webs.com/jacksonfamilyhistory.htm):

Samuel is Michael Jackson's grandfather. (Joseph Jackson's father).
Samuel Jackson was the son of an ex slave (Nero Jackson), who was the child of a Native American named Jack and a Slave African American mother.
Nero is Michael Jackson's great grandfather.
Jack is Michael Jackson's great great grandfather (Samuel's grandfather).
Emmeline is Michael's great great grandmother (Samuel's grandmother)
Nero got married to a Native American woman named Emmeline. Emmeline gave birth to 15 children, Nero had had 6 other children before he get married. The last children they had together were twins and the boy was Samuel. Samuel had studed at College and became a School teacher, then High School Teacher. He got married to one of his students Crystal Lee King. Together, they have had 6 children and then got divorced, but then got married again until the end of their days. Samuel died on February 12, 1992.
Crystal Lee King is Michael's grandmother (Joseph's mother)

I wonder if that is real?

If it is, you are right, Joe does resemble him very much.

I've seen this before, I'm almost certain it's real.

^Joe played guitar in a band called The Ford Falcons with his brother Luther.

The picture is legit, and I've seen it in the Grandreams 1985 MJ special book.

do you know what i thought at first?I thought someone had photoshopped joes eyes and nose into the picture lol,wow i'm blown away by how much he looks like his father,

Interesting thread, thanks for all the info! Nice to have some more family tree info.

How could Joe's father be younger than Joe? If he died in 1935 that would make him 75 yrs old in 2010? I'm I right or Im I on propofol?
If Mrs. Katherine was 81 this yr, she would have been born in 1930. Somebody help me out here? plz

If Joe says he father was born in 1935 and died in 2010 that would make Joe's father younger than Joe, right? which makes no since. I you care to do the math...

This thread started out on Joe's father, and then went on to discuss Joe's younger brother, Luther, who passed away in 2010. He was born in 1935.

I think you have mistaken Joe's brother, Luther's information, for his father's.

That picture is really old. It came out in the 80's after Thriller. It followed a story that said Michael and the Jacksons were letting Grandpa go on welfare.

^Thanks. I assumed it would be pretty old considering Samuel died in 1992.

@goldiee

Really, was it a tabloid article. Can you tell us more if you remember? Tabloid are full of hot air and nonsense. I doubt they let him go on welfare. thanks
