DETROIT – Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs has died at 72.
The lead singer for the legendary Motown singing group died Friday morning at his home in Detroit. His death was confirmed by the Wayne County medical examiner's office as well as Dana Meah, the wife of his grandson.
Stubbs fronted the group for years and was considered to have one of the most dynamic and emotive voices of all the Motown singers.
With Stubbs in the lead, the Four Tops sold millions of records, including such hits as "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" and "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)."
Stubbs' death leaves one surviving member of the original group: Abdul "Duke" Fakir.
