The national spotlight could be shining on a stage in Scranton this weekend as one of the Jacksons gets set to do one of the first concerts by a family member since Michael Jackson's death.
When people think of Rebbie Jackson a music video from YouTube and her hit single from the 1980s called "Centipede" might come to mind.
Jackson talked about her Saturday concert in Scranton Friday while visiting the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center downtown and opened up about her brother, pop star Michael Jackson who died last June.
"They (her family) seem to be coping with it pretty well. It's been very difficult. A long road but like with anyone who loses a loved one, death is a like a sting. You just have to get used to it," Jackson said.
Her concert in the Electric City this weekend, "A Nod to Greatness: Motown and More," will benefit earthquake relief for Haiti and Chile as well as a scholarship fund for Lackawanna College. It will be one of the first performances by a member of the Jackson family since the King of Pop's death.
It's not just the adults who are excited about Rebbie Jackson's performance but also some young kids.
"I think it's really nice of her to take time out of her busy day to come here to put on a show," said Derrick Beleski of Kingston. "She's a legend in music."
The concert will be Saturday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the Mellow Theater at Lackawanna College in Scranton. For more information call 570-955-1455.
