Question about Smooth Criminal on the HIStory tour

I've noticed that on Smooth Criminal during the HIStory tour the vocal track for the song sounds a little different to the vocal track on the Bad album/previous tours. Did MJ record a new backing vocal track for Smooth Criminal on the HIStory tour or am i just hearing things?

i think its just slowed down a bit

No, it's not different, I think Smooth criminal and other songs sometimes sound different because the music is played live and the recorded voice is "isolated".
