And the Bad Romance singer will make $200m from her Monster Ball tour...

Lady GaGa can rightly claim to be the most famous star online after she usurped Britney Spears as the most followed person on Twitter.

The Just Dance singer’s rise in popularity across social networks has been meteoric: she found 600,000 new Twitter followers in the last month alone. Britney was the queen of Twitter for a mere three months – she overtook former leader Ashton Kutcher (now in third place) in May. As things stand now, GaGa has 5.7m followers; Britney has 5.6m; Ashton has 5.5m.

Lady GaGa is also the most popular living star on Facebook with over 16 million friends. Just last month she became the first living person to have over 10 million fans on the site, a figure she has nearly doubled in four weeks. Only Michael Jackson has more – 18.9m at last count.

But GaGa’s reign may be fairly short-lived as Justin Bieber’s popularity is growing at a faster rate than the Poker Face star, and the Guardian reports that the teenager is on track to usurp her within six months.

It’s unlikely she is worried though – according to reports, GaGa’s Monster Ball arena tour is set to net the star $200m by the time it ends in April.

The tour began in November 2009 and since then, the star has extended her UK and US legs to meet unprecedented demand from her fans or, as she calls them, ‘little monsters’. The $200m the tour is set to make means that Lady GaGa is effectively one of the most successful female touring acts in history, reports Billboard.

Have you ever read her tweets? They are the most obnoxious overly dramatic bullshit I've ever read. Every other one mentions crying.

at least they should wait till the tour ends before they decide whether or not it made 200 mill. this kind of media hype fame has never been attractive to me. the media really is leading the charge on this one. i've seen more of her on mags, and lauded in media publications, than anyone i can remember.

Eh. These type of Internet records are pretty much broken every year. I'm sure if some other new media-hyped star appears within the next few years or so, that person could break the Youtube, Facebook and/or Twitter record. It all comes down to who's really popular at the moment which just happens to be Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Wouldn't be surprised if Lady Gaga reaches 20 million fans on Facebook before MJ at the rate she is going. At the end of the day, I don't think having the most fans/followers represents much in the grand scheme of things if you think about it. :/

Exactly...........

Internet records don't really mean much because everyday there are more and more people going on the internet for the first time.

Next year there will be more users of the internet then there is now, so current records will be broken.

Another factor is the internet goes in and out of trends very quickly. A few years ago MySpace was all the craze. And it used to be a big thing for celebrities to be on it. Now its Facebook and Twitter..........

.........And even before MySpace it was chat rooms that was getting the buzz........even celebrities used to have one off chat room sessions so they can talk to all their fans.

Eventually people will get bored of Facebook and Twitter and move onto the next craze. This also applies to YouTube!!!!!

Only three million? Mike has 209,364.
and so....what?
I really don't see the point of this when it comes to MJ. See his FB page... almost 20 millions people and what for? No info, no valuable updated, nothing. And his "official" website.... terrible!!!
These things might make sense for people like Biber or Gaga and it's ok. Think of Bieber: he IS a son of the virtual networks!!! But even then... who cares? More people there doesn't mean more talent form the singer/actor/writer.
The idea of these things is to keep people updated. If the "official" MJ twitter, FB, web, etc. are not able to give any kind of interesting updates or no single valuable info to make a difference... what are they useful to?
I rather forums like this

As if any of this new-age tech crap matters... *sigh*

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube... who cares?!?! These social sites are about as credible and important as having a #1 video on MTV's dead and gone TRL. It's useless and means nothing at the end of the day (especially when someone else will be #1 by then).

she will dethrone Michael...

Don't count on it.

Gaga is merely a copycat, a xeroxed copy, a facsimile, a shadow of the real King and Queen - MJ and Madonna.

Yes, children feel that Gaga is all shiny and new, and... (gasp) "original"; but they'll know in time.

Oh, Gaga will still have great days ahead, but being ONLY a thoroughgoing copycat, she'll run out of material and ideas.
