Joseph Jackson, Father of Michael Jackson to Be Honored in Cannes


LAS VEGAS, NV -- 05/14/10 -- Mr. Simon Sahouri, President of the Jackson Family Foundation is pleased to announce that Mr. Joseph Jackson, father of Michael Jackson, Patriarch of the First Family of Music, and creator of the Jackson Five, has accepted an invitation from TotalPrestige and Las Vegas Hollywood to attend this year's Cannes International Film Festival. This will be Mr. Jackson's inaugural festival visit. The highlight of Mr. Jackson's Cannes visit will be the unveiling of the Jackson Family Foundation's plans for the creation of the Jackson Family Museum; the Michael Jackson Performing Arts and Culture Center, and the Jackson Family Center in the family's hometown of Gary, Indiana.

On Saturday, May 22, 2010, Mr. Jackson will be honored by the Jackson Family Foundation at an exclusive celebrity event in Cannes hosted by Las Vegas Hollywood and TotalPrestige. Event Chairpersons Mr. Simon Sahouri (President, Jackson Family Foundation), Mr. Marco Derhy (Chairman & Founder, Clean World Wide), and Ms. Rose Marie Perez (Founder, TotalPrestige) will present.

Joseph Jackson, father of Michael, continues to amaze. His latest antic – he is declared that he is going to honor himself.
I kid you not! We had the most bizarre press release hit the Undercover office today with the heading “Joseph Jackson, Father of Michael Jackson, to be honored in Cannes”.
Well, that was eye-catching enough to make me read on.
The press release reads “On Saturday, May 22, 2010, Mr. Jackson will be honored by the Jackson Family Foundation at an exclusive celebrity event in Cannes”.
I was intrigued. The Jackson Family Foundation? What is the Jackson Family Foundation?
Well, the press release included an “about” section. So in ‘About the Jackson Family Foundation’ it reads “The Jackson Family Foundation was established by Joseph and Katherine Jackson for the purpose of developing the Jackson Family Museum & Cultural Center…” blah blah blah.
Hang-on, Joe Jackson is being honored by the Jackson Family Foundation and the founder and Chairman of the Jackson Family Foundation is Joe Jackson?
No further comments, your Honor!

How is he honoring himself? Makes no sense whatsoever.

I hope, for his sake, these projects won't go bust....like Jo Cola.

If the 2nd article in the 1st post is correct - Mr Jackson is indeed honouring himself! That is like Gaz putting out a press release saying that MJJC was going to give him a lifetime award and Gaz was one of the two persons on the award selection committee!!

and early this week someone sent a message to ask MJ to do the right thing to honor Michael. I don't know, but I feel this kind of things don't bring much bright to MJ's legacy, but a lot of shadows to certain person's reputation .... :doh:

Joe jackson is the chariman katheine jackson is the vice chariman simon sahouri is president the founder is total prestige they gave joe jackson the invitation, so joe is not honoring himself total prestige is they are the founders of The Jackson Family Foundation so they (total prestige)believe joe should be honored.

I guess you read it differently than most of us...It is as clear as daylight...but I digress.

Joe hasn't been active or successful in the music biz since the Victory tour..so what exactly is he being honoured FOR?

Joe jackson and the jackson family were honored with the brenden celebrity star dedication tue oct 27, 2009 for joe lifetime of achievement in bringing music to the world in the LVH magazine ( is part of the jackson family foundation) his business partners call joe the father of the first royal family of music, there is a jackson family museume in the works they are honoring joe jackson and the jackson family, the museume will detail the history from the beginning when joe worked at the still mill and how he became the father of the first royal family of music. the jackson 5, the jacksons, michael jackson, janet jackson, rebbie and latoya, and the next generation.

I wish this "Next Generation" talk would stop. It just seems cruel to tease all those wannabes in the family with talk about them being the next generation of stars and nothing happens. And it just sets it up for the media to play up the predictable upcoming "the cousins are jealous of PPB" stories.
 
I must admit that Joe Jackson is a funny dude..i can't hate him and can't love him but he is a cool guy..he shoud've been a movie star.
