Yasmina Chavez, Victoria Falcon (in red) and Cecilia Isberg
donned Michael Jackson costumes July 7, 2012, at Treasure
Island to help Bally promote a new slot machine themed after
the King of Pop. The Michael Jackson slot just began hitting the
Las Vegas casinos within the past two weeks.

Tete Johnson let out a squeal like she'd won a progressive jackpot, which on the new Michael Jackson slot was worth more than $465,000.

To the Chicago woman, the $60.80 she'd won was a thriller in itself, considering it came on a free spin being handed out Saturday to promote the new slot themed for the late King of Pop.
"My birthday is Tuesday and this was like a pre-birthday present, thanks to Michael," Johnson said in at Treasure Island.

Johnson doesn't usually gamble when in Las Vegas, but she was drawn to the slot by the game named after one of her favorite musical artists, who will break into song and video when players hit the bonus.

"I love anything having to do with Michael Jackson," she said.

The slot, manufactured by Bally Technologies, was unveiled last fall. But after going through regulatory testing, it just began hitting the casino floors of Las Vegas within the past two weeks.

The soundtrack of the game, including some of Jackson's greatest hits, was specially mixed at Bally studios to pay tribute to pop icon. It features surround sound blasting from the game console and from speakers inside high-backed chairs which also pulsate with the music.

Latasha Sackie of Dallas, Johnson's cousin, does play slots and said she appreciated the ease of the new game.

"It's fun and easy — I like simple games," she said. "Here, you have two buttons, either this or that."

Saturday's free play is one of about 100 such promotions Bally does each year across the U.S. and Canada to promote new games.

It worked, at least for Sackie.

"I will definitely play this again," she said, beaming.

Will be in Vegas in 12 weeks and I will try to play this.

I played this game at a casino near me. I really liked it! The music is really loud and you really can feel it pulsating in the seat! I won, too, which makes it even better!

I really want to have a go on this..it isn't going to be so good for the purse though lol

Tacky and cheap imo. estate gave permission?

I dont think Michael would be against Musical KOP Slot machines.Michael himself was planning on opening a Casino and theme park. He visted Detroit in 1998 with Don Barden to promote it. Of course the Estate would have to give permission. They are using Michael's image and music .

Michael Jackson Plans Motor City Resort

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1430444/michael-jackson-plans-motor-city-resort.jhtml

Looks like Michael Jackson wants to bring a little motel and money madness to the Motor City.

At a press conference yesterday in Detroit, Jackson and business partner Don Barden announced plans for a multi-million dollar entertainment complex, according to the Associated Press.

The planned resort, currently dubbed the Majestic Kingdom, would include a hotel, a casino, nightclubs and restaurants, in addition to a Michael Jackson Thriller Theme Park.

Jackson, who once recorded for the Detroit-based Motown Records as a member of the Jackson 5, said that the facility would be designed for "the childlike heart that lives inside every man and woman."

Barden and Jackson, who have traveled to Africa and the U.S. Virgin Islands in recent months to survey sites for similarly-conceived resorts also indicated at the press conference that the fate of the Detroit complex hinged on them successfully obtaining a casino license.

The Detroit City Council denied Barden a gambling license earlier this year, although Barden has moved to organize a referendum drive to overturn the council's decision.

What Happened to Majestic Kingdom?

Don Barden, the controversial Detroit millionaire and applicant for a casino license (once owner of Barden Cablevision in Detroit), had a good idea. As a part of his casino license proposal in July 1998, he included an amusement park, with the help of the entertainer, Michael Jackson, called Majestic Kingdom. The plan included a hotel and casino, with restaurants, nightclubs and also a Michael Jackson Thriller Theme Park. What a great idea! Our own little Disneyland in Detroit. And the river front would be a great place for a theme park for kids and adults.

Unfortunately, Barden and Jackson were denied a casino license by Detroit City Council. Barden then organized a referendum drive to overturn the council's decision, but that failed. On August 4, 1998, Detroiters voted down the proposal.

Don Barden and Michael Jackson did have a good idea in their casino proposal. Detroit needs a theme park. The only park close by, but closed a few years ago, was Boblo Island, with a fun boat ride on the Detroit River to the Canadian isle. Now, the nearest park to Detroit is Cedar Point, in Sandusky Ohio, which is a 2 hour, 112 mile drive. We need a theme park in Detroit for the kids, and for adults who act like kids (I admit to that, at times). For now, nothing is being planned.

Currently, two temporary casinos have opened here in Detroit: The MotorCity Casino and MGM Grand Detroit The third temporary casino, the Greektown Casino, is built, ready to go, and awaiting approval, but stalled due to a problem with the shareholders, Gatzaros and Papas. They're now in the process of selling their shares. And not too far in the near future, the Greektown Casino will open its doors.

It looks like lots of fun I was just watching the video, it really pays respect to MJ's legacy and the quality is wonderful, I'd love to play it sometime! thanks!

I really dont like use pokie machines but i have to make an exepction for this one

Still tacky and cheap whether mj would have approved lol

I really don't find it tacky or cheap. I don't like slot machines but this is very well done IMO..the fact it's instantly linked to casinos might give it a "tacky" feel to it but that's not what I think about this, personally.

I wish they didn't remove the cranks on those slot machines. By the time I was old enough to gamble they took them away, but maybe I'll check it out if I ever get back to Vegas.

I was in Las Vegas earlier this week. :wild: I went to many casinos looking for the MJ King Of Pop slot machine......that was mission on this trip. :woohoo: Many casinos had them.........however, I was expecting to see them by the aisles (heavy traffic), instead, in most casinos they had them against the wall or facing the wall. :wtf: These machines were not easy to find. :bugeyed

Anyway, I had lots of fun playing these machines. They were a little bit different as described on the You Tube video. For example, there is no Bille Jean bonus feature on the spinning wheel.....only one Smooth Criminal and two Beat It..........wonder what happened there? A Billie Jean random feature appears on the screen (not on the spinning wheel) and a Bad random feature as well. The Billie Jean gives you individual Double Wilds, while the Bad gives you two vertical rows of Wilds. :woohoo: As the music plays........the seat vibrates. :wild: The You Tube video also mentions Thriller..........I don't remember Thriller at all.  The only songs I heard were Dirty Diana, Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, and Bad. :woohoo: Also, the maximum bet is $3.20, and not $4.00.

For the most part, I would alternate between the $2.00 and $3.20 bet. :D I had lost $800.00 on these machines, but before leaving Las Vegas, I had to give them another try. I had $40.00 left. :D I inserted one of the twenty dollar bills and placed my bet @ $2.00..........on the last spin, I got the Smooth Criminal bonus :woohoo: (watch video below). I took the money out and move to another KOP machine............when I had $12.50 left, I got the Beat It bonus :woohoo: (watch video below). At the end, I recovered $500+........ended up losing only $200+. :D

I really enjoyed playing these machines............I can't wait to play them again. :)

Simplemagic you had a lot of fun!!! Good for you. I see you went with a big budget!!! It's a pity the machines are against the wall. I wonder why they did that if the machines are new? Wouldn't it be better to put them up front and after the initial debut move them a little to the side/middle/rear? I hope this is not going to be like the pepsi campaign that was very hidden.

My parents played this and took a video. they lost ten dollars. now if i was there :) he he heeeee

I was still in Detroit when Barden and Mike cooked up the idea and promoted it. While the idea sounded cool (as anything with Mike involved would, lol), casinos were rejected by the voters for YEARS. Now Detroit has 3 casinos and counting.

Maybe its a cultural thing
Gambling is gambling, whether you're using a slot machine or playing at the high rollers Blackjack table and it is practiced WORLDWIDE. I'm not sure what your snobbery is aimed at; gambling itself or the "culture" of the people playing the game or the "culture" of the man who's being represented in this game?

yeah.i hope the estate gets fed. i believe what Liza Minelli said..with Michael in his life, many wanted to share..ideas with him that they could receive bank for. Squeamish feeling to me. Like i saw in someone's signature, something that Liza Minelli said....many people wanted to use Michael in his lifetime. Yes, the press headline said Michael wanted the idea...well..press headlines are...press headlines..and that's all i have to say about it. lol Maybe he did..maybe he didn't...i don't know...
