here is more :D

THE WORLD CELEBRATES THE KING OF POP
25th June

Fans across the globe paid tribute to singer Michael Jackson on the first anniversary of his death.

Here’s how it all went down…

*Los Angeles, California
Thousands of fans gathered at Forest Lawn Memorial Park where Michael is at rest, along with many members of the Jackson family and close friends.

Barricades were set up at the cemetery for the huge throng of fans that arrived.

Wreaths of flowers and dozens of bouquets, drawings and photos of Jackson were placed outside his mausoleum.

Forest Lawn tried to put a stop to a group of Michael Jackson fans who wanted to release 400 doves near his mausoleum but they didn't take no for an answer!

Following the memorial service at Forest Lawn in Glendale, the Jackson family gathered at a private residence in Beverly Hills for an intimate reception to remember the life of Michael Jackson. With Janet and Jermaine by his side, Randy spoke of the good memories that his brother Michael left behind. Inside the home ... numerous framed pictures of Michael were on display from various stages of his remarkable life. Those in attendance enjoyed the music of DJ Spinderella who played various Michael Jackson songs throughout the afternoon including Rock With You and Off The Wall.

*Gary, Indiana
Michael's mother thanked hundreds of fans outside his boyhood home in Gary on Friday to pay tribute to their hero. Katherine unveiled a 7-foot-high granite monument with an etching of her son standing on his tiptoes silhouetted by the moon with the words "King of Pop" and the dates of his birth and death. "Thanks to fans from all over the world," Katherine said moments before she pulled a red covering off the monument in the front yard of the tiny home where she started her family. "This past year has been very hard on the family. If it wasn't for the help of all of you, we wouldn't have made it through."

The monument was first unveiled at a memorial last year, but etchings of the pop icon throughout the years were added to the back along with the words, "Gone Too Soon," a reference to a song Michael recorded as a memorial for Ryan White, one of the early public faces of AIDS.

The event had a feel of block party, with people talking and dancing to Michael Jackson songs during a three-hour gap from the unveiling of the monument to the start of performances of MJ songs, such as "We are the World" and "I'll Be There." Michael's cousin, Keith Jackson, performed with his band, the Triple Dose Band. Keith Jackson's 13-year-old son, Montse, danced to "Smooth Criminal." Randy’s daughter, Genevieve Jackson, also sang a song.

*London, UK
Dance group Diversity unveiled a permanent memorial plaque to Michael Jackson in the foyer of the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End, currently home to the musical of Thriller Live.

Detroit, USA
The Motown Historical Museum became a lively memorial scene Friday. The mood at the West Grand Boulevard site was celebratory with fans dancing and singing on the museum lawn while paying tribute Michael's career.

"This was a celebration. It was folks enjoying the energy and spirit of Michael Jackson." said curator Lina Stephens.

On the scene were Jackson impersonators, gift-bearing fans and radio personalities, including John Mason of WGPR-FM (107.5).

*New York, USA
At Harlem’s Apollo Theatre – where Jackson and his brothers won a talent contest and were subsequently signed to Motown Records – there was a commemoration of his life in front of the recently installed plaque honoring him in the legendary theater's new hall of fame.

Later in the afternoon, around the hour of Jackson's death, the Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network held a moment of silence.

Tokyo, Japan
Fans swarmed to Tokyo Tower which held a candlelight vigil, gospel concert and silent prayer session. Though Jackson fans gathered around the world to mark his death one year ago, the Tokyo "Lifetime Collection" event was the only overseas exhibition of Jackson memorabilia that has the sanction of his estate, promoters said.

Guests paying almost a thousand pounds each were planning to sleep overnight at the Tokyo landmark, where they would have catered food, watch a gospel choir and dance to Michael Jackson's music, before observing a period of silence as the sun rose.

Also in Japan, ‘Michael Jackson Commemorated’, a new full-length feature film, opened in 150 theatres on June 25th.

The footage was shot by Marc Schaffel, a former Jackson business associate. The footage was originally intended as a pilot for a reality series that never happened. It was the first and last time Michael Jackson agreed to wear a microphone to record him candidly. Cameras accompany the legend as he tours the inside of his childhood home in Gary, Indiana for the first time in over 30 years. They also showoff the spectacular grounds of Neverland Ranch as never before and they even capture a mischievous Michael as he orchestrates a food fight with Carter brothers, Aaron and Nick. Flamingo Features hopes to sign world distribution rights for Michael Jackson Commemorated after its wide release debut in Japan.

"Audiences are given a unique chance to be up close and personal with Michael and to feel the true essence of the genuine love and adoration he felt for his fans," said director Austen Tayler.

Tayler, director and screenplay author, is the first American female director to release a full-length feature film commissioned by Japan.

Michael Jackson Commemorated is her first full-length feature film. The projected box office is expected to exceed $50 million USD.

*Philippines
Michael Jackson made them famous. Now the inmates at the high-security Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines paid their tribute to the singer. ABS-CBN reported, inviting about 300 guests into the prison for a one-hour dance show. A smaller group of dancers and former inmates also performed Friday at a tribute in Cebu City. A video of the inmates' 1,500-person dance to "Thriller" was released in July 2007 and quickly became an international hit on YouTube. (The prison started using dance for rehabilitation and recreation in 2006.)
