Michael originally wanted to release 7 singles from Invincible. I'm pretty sure that with the help of the correct single choices and the right release dates and performances, Invincible could've been a much bigger success than it was. Let#s see how you'd have handled the era if you had been in charge.
1. Unbreakable – August 22, 2001
Video: Michael had plans for a 16-minute short film starring him and Mel Gibson. I think they should've went with it. It was probably gonna slay anyway, lol. (Filmed in late July/early August)
Performances:
– October, 2001 – album release –
2. You Rock My World – November, 2001
Video: The one we had was really good! (Filmed in October)
Performances:
3. Cry – February, 2002
Video: I think MJ filming a video at Ground Zero some time during December or January would've been really heartbreaking or something with survivors from 9/11. (Filmed in December/January)
Performances:
4. Butterflies – late March, 2002
Video: Michael stays in an opulent hotel and falls in love with one of the exotic dancers. The video ends with both of them transforming into butterflies and flying away. (Video filmed in March, released in April)
Performances:
5. Break of Dawn – June, 2002 (limited release)
Video: A very summerish video filmed at the seaside. (filmed in May)
6. Whatever Happens – August, 2002
Video: A Wild West-themed video would've been amazing! (filmed in June)
Performances: August 29, 2002 – MTV VMAs (featuring Carlos Santana) (as a medley with “Threatened”)
– September, 2002 – Invincible Tour –
7. Speechless – December, 2002
Video: A video filmed during the tour. Maybe something like him performing on stage in a stadium but without the audience. Just him alone in the stadium. His kids come and join him during the end as well as the tour crew and a choir.
MJ also said that he “can't wait to put his hands on that [Threatened]”. So apparently he was planning something for that song as well...maybe another short film? Anyway, your post won't have to be as detailed as mine. But I'm interested to see what your choices will look like!
