In response, PETA rep Michelle Cho fired off a letter to the children urging them to convert the property into a sanctuary for rescued animals.

“We are writing because it has come to our attention that you hope to one day turn your father’s Neverland Ranch into a community park and center for animals,” Cho writes. “We encourage you to call for this vast refuge to be turned into a true wildlife sanctuary where animals can be properly taken care of instead of a zoo, where people are encouraged to gawk at imprisoned animals in the name of profit.

“Michael realized that Bubbles belonged with others of his kind in a loving and safe environment, and we hope that Prince Michael and Paris will honor his memory by doing the same for other animals,” said PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk in a press release.

I think we need a clear and official announcement about Neverland projects, its ownership and other property rights. We read Neverland would be a music school, we read it would be a zoo, we read it would be a museum and some other projects and nothing happens.

We also hear there are some new owner names of Neverland several times and we don't know what kind of role Jackson family have in the decision of the future of Neverland so that PETA write a letter to the children... Not only the owner of Neverland has told to be changed and also the children are still under legal age of consent.

In a perfect world, that's a nice idea.

But who is supposed to pick up the tab for such a GRAND gesture? Neverland is a HUGE piece of property. A person would need a massive amount of money to ensure such an undertaking would be done and maintained properly.

What about the portion of Neverland that is owned by Barrack's company?

Aside from the fact, that a few years back, PETA was trying to call Michael out of his name. I believe at that time they were relying on some nonsense being reported in The National Enquirer. Now all of a sudden they are trying to make nice with Michael's YOUNG children. PETA PLEASE!

And who the heck said that the children wanted to turn Neverland into a community park and center for animals? Did one of the children really say that, or is PETA referring to some "rumor" they may have heard.

^ It's all based on some rumor..and I agree with you completely.

They are just children..Why would someone want to urge them to do something? When they are older they will make decisions on what should be done..But now? There's no rush to decide on anything.

what a bunch of fecking hypocrites. b4 all they did was moan about the ranch and it housing animlas there. heck if it pisses peta off i'd turn it into a slaughter house:tease:

yes, we do. The Jackson family doesn't have any role in that decision. The Michael Jackson Estate does.

Isn't this the same organization that trashed Michael at least twice during the last four years of his life because of false claims made by a tabloid? After the way they acted toward him, they sure have alot of nerve here, in my opinion.

Those PETA fascists can go to Hell for all I care. They should leave those CHILDREN alone. It's now clearer than ever that they never fail in reaching new lows. I can't stand people who want to shove their stupid views on others. If they want to be vegan hippies, good for them, but the rest of us also have the freedom to make choices about our diets and wardrobes without receiving verbal abuse from/having property vandalized by these idiots.

Moreover, PPB are free to do as they please with Neverland. That decision is theirs, and they don't need "advice" from PETA, or anyone else. For the record, these are the same idiots who criticized Michael for having a zoo at Neverland, and for wanting to use an elephant in the "This is It" tour.

While on the subject of PETA, you should look up Rucka Rucka Ali's song about PETA. It's horrendously inappropriate, so I won't post it here, but hilarious as Hell. The video for it could have done better. =/

Peta needs to leave Michael's children alone.
Prince, Paris, and Blanket (Peta Michael Jackson has
three children) can do whatever they want with Neverland. They don't need advice from you.
I would like to kick Peta in its collective butt. :fencing

Nothing against PETA but don't you think that is a tad selfish to write to three kids and tell them what they should do with Neverland, using emotional blackmail by using Michael's name. It's not up to them. Plus I remember when they were incorrectly accusing Michael of neglecting the animals at Neverland, which couldn't be any further from the truth if it tried.

Nothing more to say, you said everything and you're fucking right ^^

PETA embarrasses me, and I say this being a vegetarian. They're so radical.. but that's another story. I think they should leave those children alone! They're too young to be urged to make decisions like this... where would the money come from to up keep this animal sanctuary? I didn't know that they said some harsh things about Michael in reaction to a false tabloid; that just makes them look like idiots now for wanting to reach out to the children.

No-one should be writing letters to Michaels children as they are only CHILDREN:yes:

Since Michael Jackson‘s untimely death, the fate of Neverland Ranch has faced much speculation. But rumors are now circulating that his children, Prince Michael Jackson and Paris Jackson would like to convert the 2,800 acre property into a “community park and center for animals.”

In response, PETA rep Michelle Cho fired off a letter to the children urging them to convert the property into a sanctuary for rescued animals.

“We are writing because it has come to our attention that you hope to one day turn your father’s Neverland Ranch into a community park and center for animals,” Cho writes. “We encourage you to call for this vast refuge to be turned into a true wildlife sanctuary where animals can be properly taken care of instead of a zoo, where people are encouraged to gawk at imprisoned animals in the name of profit.”

In the ranch’s heyday it used to house camels, giraffes, pythons, macaws, elephants, monkeys, alligators, and tigers among other animals. Perhaps the most famous of these was Bubbles, Michael’s chimpanzee who became more of a companion than a mere animal to him. In the end, Bubbles was relocated to a sanctuary where he is free from the public eye, something the children were reminded of in the letter.

“Michael realized that Bubbles belonged with others of his kind in a loving and safe environment, and we hope that Prince Michael and Paris will honor his memory by doing the same for other animals,” said PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk in a press release.

The letter ends with Cho providing resources to the children on how they could turn the ranch into a haven, “Much would have to be done, but with some of the necessary facilities already in place, Neverland Ranch could be a suitable location for an animal sanctuary.”

And in closing, PETA emphasizes that Neverland could be, “a place where animals can escape from their former lives of abuse and neglect. With that in mind, I would like to offer you PETA’s support if you choose to go forward with plans to turn the Neverland Ranch into a true sanctuary.”

We’d love to see Prince and Paris take this advice to heart and turn Neverland into a safe refuge for animals! What do you think should become of Neverland?

how about Peta growing up and stop going after minor kids

Re: PETA Urges Michael Jackson's Kids To Convert Neverland Into Animal Sanctuary

I think this is a good idea, but wait a minute...weren't PETA the ones who were getting on Michael's case for having his animals there, claiming he was mistreating them? Hypocrites much? Anyway, when the kids are old enough they should be allowed to make their own decisions about Neverland, whatever that might be.

Re: PETA Urges Michael Jackson's Kids To Convert Neverland Into Animal Sanctuary

How can you take it serious that PETA asks this from children. - Leave them alone for gods sake!!

Both of these statements were my exact thoughts....this really makes me mad..they are trying to appeal to minor children...of course the children are sensitive to the well being of animals..but Peta needs to back off and let these kids finish being kids...there is plenty of time to approach them with this idea when they become adults. See they dont feel out of line by approaching the kids with this idea because these children have already been made accessable to other creepy people and its obvious that Peta doesnt thnk they are over stepping their bounds by approaching minor children...we can thank Katherine for that.

Basically!

The headline alone just irritated me, to hell with PETA, they seem to think people have forgotten their previous statements about Michael. They are trying to be so endearing towards the kids now, but just you watch what would happen if Neverland does'nt become the animal sanctuary they hope for, they would turn on the kids so fast!

This is exactly why even other animal protection groups don't like PETA, they go too far with things. Like the kids need to be thinking about what's going to happen with Neverland.

Made my blood boil when reading the headline. PETA is one lousy, fake organization that pretends to be ethical. Sucking up to minor children, not just any children, but Michael Jackson's children, the very one who they unjustly admonished during the lowest point of his life just to taunt him and mutilate the remains of his credibility. .... Those children will do as they please, and not just cuz PETA or any other so-called non-profit org are urging them to.

I can't stand PETA even though I love animals. They are far too radical in their beliefs and actions. They remind me of religious fundamentalists shoving their beliefs down our throats and condemning anyone who doesn't adhere to the same standards as they do.

Thank you^^ I was going to say the same. I remember PETA very well!!! Now some kids have assets and they want to tell them what to do with it!! I hope when these children come of age, they will have some ethical people looking after their finances, because the vultures will be coming along with all kinds of plans for them to do with their property and money.

"Slaughter house?" Eww... I know that was a joke but, scary to even think about that! SMH I love animals!

But, PETA abuses their authority to much! The kids are to young and I don't think know what they want to do with a big property like that yet or whomever is in charged of that kind of decision? But, the kids shouldn't be pressured especially from PETA who accused there father of abusing animals once!

PETA do some great work, but at the same time they so so much that turns people off them. They need to stick to battles that mean something. Im sure either way, animals at neverland will be taken care of. Why not worry about animals around the work that are really suffering

I agree with everything you guys wrote against Peta ...but I can't help but chuckle that they addressed the rightful owners (co-owners) of the place....MJ's kids.

So, I get a bit of satisfaction knowing Randy's head probably grew tenfold at reading this piece....the Jacksons being ignore in the bigger scheme of MJ's legacy.

Because we all know the children are his permanent beneficiaries & future managers of his legacy
