Paraliment Hill attacked in an Ottawa shooting

A friend of mine who lives in Canada (not near Ottawa, though) was texting me about this throughout the day. Scary stuff. :( Condolences to the soldier's family.

I've been following footage throughout the day. I don't live in Ottawa but it's been surreal seeing the reports comming out of the capital. I've heard the lock down is at least partially lifted.

This is horrible! I was on my way to an interview when this broke and couldn't stay tuned. I was shocked that this happened in Canada! I usually expect this kind of madness on my side of the border, not surprised when some nut with a gun (or guns) goes off here in the States. Damn shame. My condolences to the soldier that was killed and all affected by this attack.

MP's, and the general public no doubt, are gathering at the War Memorial this morning to pay tribute to Cpl Nathan Cirillo. Flags are flying at half mast. My deepest sympathies to him and his family.

I have relatives and a friend of my dad's who's also my friend that lived outside Ottawa. I hope they didn't go to the city that day. I can't believe it's all over the news everywhere, I've caught some of it on CNN and CBC. I never imagined that Canada would be attacked like this. Not only that the Leafs vs Senators game was postponed due to the attack. But I can't discuss about the game and you'll have to go to http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/t...key-fans-on-here/page36?p=4051476#post4051476 with 2 other teams supporting Ottawa and about the possibility of Don Cherry honouring Cpl. Nathan Cirillo on this Saturday's "Coach's Corner".

My hearts and prayers goes to the Cirillo family and he may RIP.

Even the city of Toronto has gotten their security increased for precautions.

I don't think we were immune to some form of attack at some point, but watching the footage of gunfire blazing inside the Parliament buildings was difficult to say the least. I was listening to Heal the World on the way home last night. Gave me a some comfort.
