Im sure you have all heard about Kanye West being arrested the other night in Newcastle. Hes beyond sick of dealing with photographers that invade his space wayy to much. So he wants to know who is winnin out of him n the press. I take it he means rising above all the bad things they say about him etc

He should campaign with others that are fed up with the papz, to get a law passed to give some people some privacy.

Anyways here is his side of the story about gettin arrested n his views....

WHO'S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?
REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH LIGHT I PUT OUT, THERE ARE PEOPLE WORKING JUST AS HARD TO ONLY DELIVER DARKNESS. IF YOU LISTEN TO MY MUSIC, HOW COULD I DELIVER SO MANY POSITIVE UPLIFTING MESSAGES AND BE THE MONSTER THAT THE MEDIA PAINTS. PAPARAZZI GIVE REAL PHOTOGRAPHERS A BAD NAME. A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, THEIRS ARE WORTH A THOUSAND DOLLARS...

LET US NOT FORGET THE PAPS KILLED PRINCESS DIANA. WHEN WILL THERE BE A LAW PASSED THAT SIMPLY ENFORCES THAT SOMEONE HAS TO ASK TO TAKE A PHOTOGRAPH OF YOU. THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE COMMON COURTESY. RIGHT NOW THE PAPS ARE ABOVE THE LAW AND THE PEOPLE THEY SHOOT ARE BELOW IT. WHAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL IS PICTURES TAKEN WITH THE INTENT TO SELL....LIKE DRUGS WITH THE INTENT TO SELL... OR CROSSING CUSTOMS WITH ENOUGH MERCHANDISE TO HAVE THE INTENT TO SELL. THE EXPLOITATION OF MY IMAGE IS THE PROBLEM. IT PRODUCES A "BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY" BEHAVIOR THAT CAUSE THE PAPS TO DRIVE RECKLESSLY ON FREEWAYS, JUMP OVER FENCES AND INVADE PRIVACY ALL IN AN EFFORT TO GET THAT "MONEY SHOT." YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SELL A PICTURE OF ME WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. AFTER THIS LAW IS PASSED, WHEN YOU ENTER A PUBLIC PLACE LIKE A BASKETBALL ARENA ETC., THERE WILL BE A SIGN THAT READS..."ALL PHOTOS TAKEN HERE ARE PUBLIC DOMAIN AND CAN BE USED AT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS DISCRETION." OBVIOUSLY RED CARPET EVENTS WHERE PEOPLE SHOW UP TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED WILL ALSO APPLY. THE PERSONAL PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE PAPS IS WHEN THEY TRY TO CATCH YOU BEING A REGULAR PERSON. I AM NOT A CELEBRITY. I'M A NORMAL PERSON THAT'S JUST FAMOUS. I REFUSE TO SNEAK IN AND OUT OF BACK DOORS AND KITCHENS OF HOTELS ETC....

I AM PROTECTING MY PERSONAL SPACE SINCE THERE ARE NO LAWS TO PROTECT THAT FOR ME.

I PUT MY HAND UP TO THE CAMERA IN SELF DEFENSE!

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED...WHEN I LEFT THE CLUB, I WAS ENCOUNTERED BY A THIRSTY PAPARAZZI AS USUAL. HE FELT HE HAD MORE RIGHTS TO MY SPACE THAN ME, SO I PUT MY HAND UP TO PREVENT HIM FROM TAKING MY IMAGE. I DIDN'T ASSAULT HIM BUT MERELY PUTTING MY HAND UP TO COVER HIS LENS. MY SECURITY YELLED, "GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM." I GUESS IN ALL THE COMMOTION THE CAMERA SCRAPED HIS NOSE.

THREE HOURS LATER I GET A KNOCK AT MY HOTEL DOOR. THERE WERE FIVE POLICE OFFICERS IN FRONT OF MY ROOM AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY. I HAD MY SECURITY GO SPEAK WITH THEM. THE COPS WERE VERY CORDIAL BUT TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ARREST ME BECAUSE A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THAT WAS THE BOGUS PART. THEY PLACED ME IN HANDCUFFS AND DROVE ME TO THE STATION. THEY SPOKE ABOUT HOW THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY A PUBLICITY STUNT BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER BUT THEY STILL HAD TO GO THOUGH THE MOTIONS. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE HOTEL THERE WERE PAPARAZZI HANGING OVER THE BRIDGE ABOVE THE HOTEL TRYING TO GET A SHOT OF ME GETTING OUT THE POLICE VAN. EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T CHARGED, THE DAMAGE WAS DONE. SURE ENOUGH THE NEXT MORNING, PLASTERED ACROSS EVERY MEDIA OUTLET... KANYE GETS ARRESTED. IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT I WASN'T CHARGED OR THE FACT THAT I HADN'T ASSAULTED ANYONE. ALL THAT MATTERED WAS THAT I WAS ARRESTED.

SIDEBAR, THEY QUOTED ME AS SAYING..."GET THE CAMERA OFF HIM!" LIKE I WAS TALKING IN THIRD PERSON. HE TRIED TO MAKE ME SOUND LIKE A CRAZY PERSON AND PEOPLE BELIEVED HIM. WHAT MERIT DOES THIS GUY HAVE THAT HE CAN SAY SOMETHING ABOUT ME AND PEOPLE TAKE IT AS LAW? THE FACT THAT HE COULD GET ME ARRESTED OFF A MERE COMPLAINT BUT I CAN'T ASK HIM TO STOP TAKING PICTURES OF ME IS VERY LOPSIDED.

WHO'S WINNING, ME OR THE MEDIA?

This is the first I heard of this and all I have to say is :clapping:.

I have been wondering the exact same thing for awhile now. There is a difference between "freedom of the press" and an "invasion of privacy'. The problem is we dont know how to draw that line and I agree with him 100%.

Some people just deal with it but I mean if you're not in a good mood why would you want some assclown with a camera in your face? It just doesn't make any sense and I hope laws are one day passed to fix this problem but I don't see it ever happening.

So Kanye, sadly the media is in fact winning.

I agree with what he's saying. It's ridiculous how the media can violate people's rights and it's acceptable and a whole industry depends on it. I know a lot of people say that when you're in the public eye you just have to live with it, but imo people should all have the same rights. Being rich or famous shouldn't put you at a disadvantage with the law - having money and fame shouldn't mean that now people can violate your right to privacy and freedom of movement and are able to take your image and just run with it. I think the whole thing is dehumanizing and dangerous and just keeps getting worse.

Yeah, it's about time someone told them stupid Papz to back off.

Good on him.

ive got one for ya'll

its non mj tho

when heath ledger was in australia promoting a movie a few years ago the paparrazzi sprayed him with water pistols and everything and accused him of hitting someone from the media

he never did any of that crap they just wanted a story on him

heath lived in bondi australia at the time with his baby daughter and girlfriend the paparazzi then turned to heath as he was leaving the premiere and said ill see u back at home ledger

so he ended up selling the house and moving back to NYC and they still didnt leave him alone even when he died they were there filming every bit even the body bag that had him inside i wouldnt be surprised if one snook into the apartment where heath lay on the floor dead and took a pic anything for a story

its sick the media is sick argh :rant:so kanye west aint the only one

What annoys me even more than the paparazzi is the amount of celebrities who complain about them. You know paparazzi are going to follow you, you know how they act, and you know you're going to have zero privacy. You chose this career & lifestyle, live with it.

Don't get me wrong, the paparazzi are annoying pieces of ish, but not until they make some laws, the celebrities must know what they're getting themselves into.

I would not have been surprised either - if they could have they would have! Did they not take pictures of Princess Diana as she was dying? Thankfully, that footage has never been released.

I'm not sure people can really know what they're getting themselves in to before it's too late. Especially since many people start out being famous at a very young age. Then there's also people who've never signed up for fame, but still become famous (MJ's children for example).

The real problem for me is that people think being famous is a job lol. People don't want to be actors or singers - they just want to be famous and for that they use the media and then complain when things snowball out of control. I think this is a product of the whole celebrity culture thing.

Either way, I think the media needs regulation. Out of control paparazzi behaviour is dangerous to the celebrity and the people around them. Not to mention all the other issues I have with it lol

they did actually get a photograph of heath ledgers dead corpse laying in a black body bag on a gurney inside his apartment they must of got it through a window somehow becoz it looked like it was taken from up a ladder to his apartment window im unsure tho but it was released online and upset many fan's of heath's

The paparazzi are why out of control, and I'm really happy Kanye West lashed out at them. Even with famous people I dislike, I always support them against the paparazzi who are nothing more than stalkers with cameras.

Paparazzi isn't anything new. There is a Brigette Bardot movie from 1964 called "Contempt" in which her character is laying around and some photographers are hanging off a cliff are trying to get her picture. Frank Sinatra used to punch them. In the 1970s Bob Dylan found a guy digging in his trash trying to get info. But celebs don't just have paparazzi to worry about, but stalkers, deranged fans, former employees that aren't in good terms with the celeb, and people that dislike them. There was a plot to kidnap Elvis in the early 70s that didn't work. John Lennon was shot. George Harrison was stabbed by a guy claiming the Beatles were "witches". Janet Jackson, Madonna, & David Letterman had people who claim they were spouses that broke into their houses, several times in Letterman's case. Jane Fonda got lots of death threats about her Vietnam statements. A guy shot President Reagan to try and impress Jodi Foster, and so on.

The Paparazzi really need to stop coming off as complete creeps. It's a bit sad and ridiculous. When they see a celeb, they start asking them crappy questions like "HI Angelina! How's Brad and the kids?" "Hi Madonna, have you been hanging in there since your divorce?" and garbage like that. And they trail them and stalk them and hound them, and if a celeb starts getting feisty and breaks their camera or if a pap gets pushed/hit when the celeb is wanting privacy, they act like they are innocent bystanders who are standing a block away being singled out.

There are plenty of times for them to get shots in a respectful manner: bennefits, red carpet events, etc. Yet they'd rather hound the sh*t out of them.

They are sad, creepy cretins, basically.
