*DEADLINE TO SEND IN YOUR SIGNATURES HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL DEC 6.*

WE NEED YOUR HELP:

1) Please let people know that signatures are collected till December 6, 2009;

2) Please help us post the blurb below on as many fan sites as possible;

3) We have not yet tapped countries like Japan, Brazil, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia and many others. We do not want to disappoint Michael’s fans there and need your assistance!

Now is the time to add your signature to our Open Letter that will be sent to the media aimed at rectifying and preventing future damaging publication about Michael. This is targeted to reputable publications who, we hope, will heed our request. This is not targeted to tabloids who will use it for kindling and fuel to further infuriate MJ supporters.

MJ has long been the target of merciless press and we, those who love MJ, need to stand together to restore his name to where it belongs - with honor, respect, and the dignity that he deserves.

We are all experiencing a deep sorrow at the continued media assault against Michael Jackson. This is why a few weeks ago, a group of Michael Jackson’s fans from different countries launched an initiative to address mass media and journalists across the world and raise our voice against defamation of a man who deserves every respect and admiration. The world must learn the truth about Michael Jackson as a musician, a brilliant performer, a true recipient of a gift. The world must see Michael Jackson as a humanitarian and a philanthropist, a man with a kind and generous heart who dedicated his entire life to people.

The time has come for all Michael Jackson’s dedicated fans and earnest admirers to stand up in his support and to cleanse his name and reputation soiled by slander and misinterpretation.

Done! I'm glad I signed because I've truly had enough of this deplorable smear campaign against Michael. Last night I went to a movie, but all I could focus on during the movie was this smear campaign and how much I would like to see these media personalities brought to task and held accountable for their actions.

Not only did Michael bring out the best in good people like us, but he also brought out the worst in the bad people of the world. I'm glad he was here to do that because it made me more aware of how many bad people there are. And I have met quite a number of them personally. It lets me know where I stand with them.

Come on people, sign the petition and do your part!!!

Apologies, but I am not going to sign it....no offence meant but I think Boteach's book is actually of some value and might I not agree with the fact he is making money of it, that is life. Either him now or someone else later..
 
I'm glad the deadline has been extended as I'd probably have missed this otherwise. I haven't signed yet (will do before the deadline). I posted this on my Facebook and got to wondering, which time zone is the 6th December? Is it US time? I also thought the description accompanying the link (about Boteach's book) may be confusing. I understood this is a more general open letter, right? Another question, where is the open letter going to end up? I mean, how will it reach the media people it's targeted for? Should there be more translations? For instance, if the letter was sent to the Finnish media, it would need to be in Finnish for them to pay even a little attention. Sorry for the bunch of questions, this is a great endevour! :)
