A city council woman In New York is fighting for the Right to have Hoyt-Schermerhorn St subway station named after Michael.

As some of you know Hoyt-Schermerhorn St subway station is where the Bad short film was shot.

The reasons for them not agreeing with it is because the MTA say it has none of its stations named after people and it could confuse train users.

She is not giving up and all is not lost because agency Honchos agreed to the MTAs first ever naming rights.

So if the price is right the station could be named after Michael.

Actually you might not. Hoyt & Shermerhorn station is really dirty. Michael must of had it sanitized for the Bad video. They would have to give the station an over haul before they named it after him. Otherwise, why name a decrepid place as a memorandum to someone great?

it's funny how they 'forgot' they agreed to a naming rights deal, when Michael's name came up. but remembered it, when the idea was first brought up by a guy with money in hand, and another name, altogether.

money talks. and MJ's plaque is in our hearts, anyway, more than other celebs are in others' hearts, since he seems to be a celebrity, that officials have an aversion to, while not so, with any other celebrity. and, since MJ has made more inroads, as a star than any other.

so..if it doesn't get named after him...so be it. it it does get named after him, it just adds to the legend. if it doesn't, the fact that the place is still standing still adds to his legend. if it fell, or was torn down, it would still add to his legend.

so, if officials think they can hurt us..they can't.

but if they do name it, i will thank them. i thank the one official, the councilwoman, and those that agree with her, though. the thought does count for something.

I would love to see this happen. You can even see the signs in the video. Even if they only add a memorial there for him, I would be happy.

This article is from September 09. I hope she's still fighting for this. There should be something placed there to mark the location - a plaque or mural. I believe part of "The Wiz" was filmed in that station too (not sure how much though). But then, lots of movie scenes have been shot in that station but you would never know it. I grew up walking through that subway station to go to the downtown area for shopping.

Actually, when the "Bad" video was filmed in 1987 I was attending college in the downtown area. But then I didn't take that subway station very often back then. My school was located in the "better" part of that section (hehe). Michael was in the 'hood!

Ahhhh yes!

Although the whole time I thought it was "Chambers Street Station"
I feel happy that he did it in my borough of brooklyn.

I wanted to gather fans to set up a memorial there but I dunno if the MTA will approve.

TBH though that station is filthy as filth at the moment, Michael doesnt deserve that.

I hope it happens but where was this show of resect when Michael was alive, a good idea but somewhat sickening that none of these people publicly showed support when he needed it the most.

I completly agree.
They didnt care or want to know when he was alive but now hes not here everyone wants to be all over him giving him this award, bringing out all the merchandise.
It makes me sick how these people behave.
Its like you didnt give a shit when he was alive so why you bothering now?
I hate all thoes 2 faced people out there.
It really does disgust me.

I wounder if the 'BAD' logo thatwas spray painted on the wall during the film is still there.
It would be pretty cool if it was as It would act as a peminant reminder that that station was used for the short film.

Also I feel a petition coming on.

Nope, not still there.
