Not sure why, but it's great to see. Also he has three albums on Billboard 200:

Billboard Top 200

141 RE 167 Number Ones Michael Jackson
153 RE 85 The Essential Michael Jackson Michael Jackson
187 RE 197 Thriller Michael Jackson

It's been hovering around 4 and 5 for a while now and When I saw this a couple of days ago Abba Gold was at number 3 while Number Ones was at #4. Abba Gold is currently at #6. Random.
I'm not sure why Abba Gold and Number Ones have seen such a resurgance but it's good news. Maybe those albums are on offer in many territories around the globe?

I said this years ago, but I wish they would delete all other MJ hits albums so sales are concentrated only on Number Ones. Imagine the sales of Number Ones when MJ Died if the other hits collections weren't around to dilute the sales figures! essential still sells quite well in many territories too, so without that album (and KoP etc) Number Ones may actually be in the top3 on itunes right now!

Actually if you look at the top40 there are a few surprises (at least they're surprises to me).
Phil Collins Hits is at #12.
Dire Straits, Sultans of Swing at #22
Simon & Garfunkel hits at #38
Sade hits at #24
Adele's "21" is at #12 - still selling strong!

Yes, I know what you mean that it would be better if there was just one MJ greatest hits album on the market. Then there would not be a couple of albums which sold 4-5 million each but there would be one big GH album that sold 10-15 million, which would look more impressive. Also Thriller still sells well, it's a regular on charts, but it would even sell better if not for Essential which has I think 7 or 8 of Thriller's 9 tracks + other tracks from other albums and that for about the same price as Thriller.

On Jaunary 21st, a new The Beatles box set will be released. It consists of 13 discs/albums - Meet The Beatles!, The Beatles' Second Album, A Hard Day's Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Something New, The Beatles' Story, Beatles '65, The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Help! (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), Rubber Soul, Yesterday And Today, Revolver and Hey Jude.

After Billboard changed the rules in 2010, the set will be counted (and ranked) as ONE or 13 albums sold on the charts?
Thats the third box set of the Beatles CDs after the original 2009 stereo and mono boxes.
I wonder, why they (the company - Capitol Records) want to release so many sets and what about Sony/ATV and Michael? Sony/ATV can profit from it too.

Whatt?? What is the reason of this good news? This really is astonishing! How come this albums sells so good again?

now Michael's music is back in the mainstream the estate should announce the new album now.

They’re on BB 200 this week too:

Number Ones #157
The Essential MJ #105
Thriller #136

But why? How come?

Well, Thriller, Number Ones and Essential are constant charters. In 2013 Thriller was among Billboard's 200 best selling albums of the year, selling about 150k in the US. In a record industry where the year's best selling album sold ~2 million and you could be in the Top 10 by selling 1 million copies that's brilliant from a 31 year old album with no promotion, no anniversary, no re-issue, nothing. But I think in the last couple of years it was always there, among the 200 best selling albums of each year.

iTunes is having a special sale on greatest hits albums... MJ's Number Ones is one of them (the best one, of course!)

^Yes indeedy.

Michael Jackson's 2003 compilation "Number Ones," which jumps from #162 to #141, tops the 5 million mark in U.S. sales this week. The album has sold the majority of those copies since Jackson's death in June 2009. It had sold 1,825,000 copies as of the week before his death. "Number Ones" is Jackson's third album to top the 5 million mark in U.S. sales since January 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan started tracking music sales. The others are "Thriller" (6,343,000, plus millions more in its first 8+ years of release) and "Dangerous" (5,786,000, plus 658K for a subsequent edition).

I was looking on iTunes today and looking at the top 10 albums right now. Number Ones is #10. That was great to see.

Number Ones has been doing exceptionally great for years! I'm so proud of our Michael!

I DO NOT BELIEVE AND DO NOT ACCEPT that "Number Ones" is MJ's only third album to top the 5 million mark in U.S. sales since January 1991, when Nielsen SoundScan started tracking music sales.

REALLY?
And what about HIStory album? Is´t it officially certified with 7x platinum? = a few years ago (before 2009) it was reported that HIStory had 7x platinum with 3,5 mill. copies, so its more than likely it reached at least 4 mill. (imo its 5 mill.)=as the double album 8 million copies=8x platinum.

OR what?

Essential is Reentry in Billboard 200, on 189

Thriller is Reentry in BB 200 this week, on 177

Yes 5M just in USA, I wonder how much in the all world!?

The link below gives some great information, regarding MJ's sales. :)

But bare in mind, a lot of these figures have not been updated in four years! Some great work by a poster called 'MJDangerous', who has now moved on. I think he has his own site, but I'm not sure what it's called.

In any case, looking at the figures from 4 years ago, I am sure 'Number Ones' must have shifted well over 10 million worldwide by now!
