Anyone else annoyed with the new Facebook Privacy Settings??

"Certain categories of information such as your name, PROFILE PHOTO, LIST OF FRIENDS and Pages you are a fan of, Gender, Geographic Region and Networks you belong to ARE CONSIDERED PUBLICLY AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE, including Facebook enhanced applications, and therefore do not have privacy settings"

So now my profile picture and friends list is shown to the whole of facebook. I'm so annoyed. They always change it and instead of make it better, they make it 10x worse!! I've complained.

There's been controversy on the news about it. Why don't they ever listen to their members??

They can't see anything if you change your settings to only friends. I set mine to that, that only my friends can see my info, not everyone, and when you have everyone selected, they are telling you just not your friends of friends can see your photos, but all of the people on the internet can possibly as well. Set it to only friends.
 
^^^ Even if you set it to only friends, everyone else can still see your profile picture and your friend's list, like for instance if someone was browsing someones friends list that you were on and they clicked on you...your profile pic and your friends list would show.

The old settings, you could choose what everyone can see but not you don't have a choice :(
 
I was just at my facebook, which is now for family, and I was just at my privacy settings. I had the option for Friends, friends of friends, or everyone. I selected friends. If you pick friends, not everyone can see it. I even heard it on the news yesterday when they talked about this. Facebook says if you don't want everything out there, select friends. If it were meant for everyone to see it, we would not have any options at all.

I really dislike facebook. lol. I'm contemplating removing my account from there soon. Its just a terrible networking site now ever since the changes took place. I liked it the way it was a few years ago.
 
This is exactly why I am very happy I've not added nada to my FB account. I wish everyone the very best with theirs They really should stop the maddness then perhaps I'd add something there
 
i had to delete my facebook because i was being stalked ... plus a friend of mine found pictures of me on some pornsites like wtf ... neways facebook was good 2 years ago now theres too many changes and annoying applications
 
Hmm I really thought it was better now with the new settings! :scratch: You can choose more options right?
Or maybe I'm overseeing something....but thought it's quite good you can see how others view your profile.

Ah well...I don't have problems with it, only thing is I get friendinvites from people I don't know and are collecting girls in their friend list.
Anyone know how you can block those?! :lol:

I was wondering why everyone was seeing my pages and gender and I wasn't able to find a place where to change the settings for those.

But yeah, all these updates that they keep making are making the site worse.
 
I also liked Facebook more before all these new changes. I'm still addicted to it though, I'm no going to delete my account :D

I don't like the fact that now everyone is able to see my age, groups, school etc. that are in the 'information' list. :(
 
Back in 2007 when it became huge everyone was addicted to it. I was checking mine about 4 times a day. Now everyone is leaving the site because of privacy changes and annoying applications. Its lost its popularity. When I go on it there are hardly any updates on it as my friends and I use it sparingly now. I guess its all about Twitter now!

Yes, go to privacy settings. There is an option to block users, but you have to either type their names in, or if you click on their names, it will take you to their page, which you can't see but their display name, and to the left it says report/block this person.
 
But the thing is, before I could control what a person who isn't my friend would see.

E.g. I made show they could not see my profile picture or my friends list, but could add me as a friend or send me a message, that way I could check them before adding them.

NOW, anyone who clicks on my, can see my profile picture and see my friends. Also they didn't make it aware that there's a new option for the profile pictures album. Most people haven't realised so their profile pictures can be roamed by everyone. I thankfully saw it and changed it to just friends. I seriously hate this thing now :mat:
 
There is a box to check for your profile picture. It's under privacy settings and then select control what people see when they search you or something like it. Unckeck the box for your profile picture. Then they can't see it.

That's gone now :(, that's why I'm angry :mat:. I don't think your facebook has been changed to the new settings yet...but it will come into force real soon.

Then you'll be complaining like me lol :)

No, mine has changed. It has a new look and everything. I think your missing something, and I am not trying to be mean saying it. I can still make what I want private. It was even in the news about it. It says We the user, control what people see.

I know your not being mean :).

But for me and millions of others, that option has gone. Check it out if you can. If it hasn't changed for you, I don't know then.

I've searched and searched on their help forums but millions of users have had the same problem. Most have now deactivated their account. There's no tick box for us. We have to show our friends list and profile picture to the world and we can't do a thing about it. The only thing i can do is change my settings to only friends, but then I might miss friends that I know not being able to add me. Its just a big ball of dirty pants!
 
You know you can still have the old settings right? :mellow: :lol:

Oh thanks! I didn't know this. But actually, that won't help though...cuz then they already invited me hahaha.
 
I don't see what the big deal is showing friends unless your trying to see if your bf has an ex or something like that ..lol.
 
Naad, maybe I am misunderstanding - but the privacy settings are still there... under the new profile set up and it is pretty private -

when go to settings>privacy settings>profile information - you see all your info and set it to who can see what - as well you can view how your profile looks... of you don't want people to see your profile picutre - under the profile info area - scroll down to photo albums and edit your profile album (which is usually the last one) and edited how you want it to look..

I hope this makes sense... I am only on my first coffee
 
Facebook is getting more and more ridiculous. It's as if they wanted people to just stop using it!

I haven't found a place where to set my gender and pages to 'friends only'.
 
I noticed on my wall, when I want to post something, it has a picture of a lock on it, and it says, friends, friends of friends and everyone. We can choose things.
 
I don't want people I'm not friends with seeing who I have on my friend list..
