my favorite musical ruined by a sequel, need to vent!

To anyone willing to offer comfort, Phantom of the Opera has been my favorite musical since I was twelve but my worst suspicions and fears were realized after reading the spoilers for Love Never Dies, which should die based on what I've found. ALW seemed to do everything wrong with the plot and characters. Good people turned bad, layered and complex characters were simplified and it just gets worse. I need some comfort.

Oh no! Phantom is also my very favorite, and Andrew Lloyd Webber is my musical theatre idol. I have a few friends who went to the first preview in London tonight and I'm eagerly awaiting their review. I personally don't think anything can ever surpass the HUGE success of Phantom and the affection people have for the original story... and I'm looking forward to the sequel without high expectations. I can't wait to get my pre-ordered CD!! Hehe, the only things I've pre-ordered all year have been This Is It CD, This Is It DVD, and Love Never Dies CD!
