LAS VEGAS CELEBRATES THE MUSIC OF MICHAEL JACKSON
Live from The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Casino Resort

Fundraiser to benefit Music Education in Clark County Public Schools*

LAS VEGAS – July 23, 2009 – For one performance only, Las Vegas’ top entertainers will come together for a special performance Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 3 p.m.

In this multi-artist production celebrating the many hits of The King of Pop, entertainers including cast members of Jersey Boys, Lion King, Peepshow and Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular will perform the hits of the Jackson songbook, all in celebration of what would have been the entertainer’s 51st birthday. This unique show will also include video montages throughout from those who knew Michael or were inspired by his work. The multi-faceted acts will be backed by a 10-piece band comprised of musicians led by Las Vegas’ own Joey Melotti. Additional performers, including many Vegas headliners, and event details will be announced in coming weeks.

This special event will commemorate and celebrate Jackson’s life while raising funds to help kids across the U.S. and right here in Nevada keep music alive in the schools. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales of this event will benefit Music Education programming in Clark County Public Schools.

“I can’t think of a better way to pay tribute to the person who inspired me and a whole generation of performers. This event helps keep the music of Michael Jackson alive, while raising money to make sure music education stays alive in schools in our community,” said Host and Co-producer Erich Bergen.*

hahah, I kinda have to agree...His estate needs to get active and start deciding who can and cannot use his music...I realize this is a tribute..but eventually they have to protect his music so it is not butchered, as you said.

Coincidence my bfriend fam is going to Vegas end of Aug for fam reunion and I'm going. Was hoping for some sort of celebration of his b-day.Def want a ticket!

Holly Madison has joined our line-up of performers. She won't be singing, but she will make a fun cameo!

Thats a pretty crappy thing to say. Give them a chance. Why dont you give them credit for honoring MJ? At least they are trying to honor him with a tribute and all the money raised is going to charity......unlike others who just want to profit.

I just found out I will be layed off from the Mirage next week......I'm hoping & praying I'll be able to afford a few tickets. I would love to go!!!

oh please. I can voice my opinion. And I have no problem with people honouring MJ. I just don't see the need to butcher classic songs in the process.

wait,stops saving lol

lmao

I think that's the first reaction many people will have. But personally, I don't think songs are something to be written, recorded once, and just played over and over, always the same, never changing.

MJ was an amazing song writer. He was also a phenomenal singer, his versions of his own songs are always going to be the definitive versions. But... he's never going to play them live again (I hate saying that). And those songs are just too good to never be performed live.

No-one's going to do them like MJ did, no-one could. But they should still be done. Just my opinion.

Going to Vegas for this isn't really practical for me, but if I could, I would. :)

Looks kinda second rate to me...but if it's for charity...what the heck, right?

Nice, it's great that 100% of proceeds go to charity :)

Here begins the new era of pseudo tributes and never ending barrage of mediocre homages to yesteryear.

I guess this is the new era of "Living WITHOUT Michael Jackson".

Hey guys,

We got a wonderful message from LaToya yesterday that I wanted to share with all of you:

WHILE MY FAMILY & I CONTINUE TO MOURN THE LOSS OF OUR BELOVED MICHAEL, IT WARMS OUR HEARTS TO KNOW OF THE VERY SPECIAL EVENT HAPPENING IN LAS VEGAS ON MY BROTHER'S BIRTHDAY.
MICHAEL'S TRUE LOVE WAS HIS MUSIC & HIS FANS & I AM QUITE CERTAIN HE WOULD BE HONORED, TO KNOW OF HIS MUSIC & TALENT BEING CELEBRATED IN SUCH A WONDERFUL MANNER.
CAUSES WHICH SUPPORT MUSIC EDUCATION HAVE ALWAYS BEEN NEAR & DEAR TO THE JACKSON FAMILY, & TO KNOW THAT SOME OF MICHAEL'S MUSICAL MASTERPIECES WILL HELP YOUNG PEOPLE IN LAS VEGAS PURSUE THEIR DREAMS, IS A TRIBUTE BEFITTING OUR MICHAEL.
ON BEHALF OF MY ENTIRE FAMILY, I WISH YOU GREAT SUCCESS WITH YOUR EVENT...
