Anyone know if MJ and Brooke have contact the last years, or when they have talk the lasttime???
And whats with Lisa-Marie??Did they have contact??

I remember Brooke saying in memorial service that they talked last time at the Elizabeth Taylor's wedding in 1991. I could be wrong. Someone correct me in that case.

when brookes father died she said mj had rang her to say sorry. think this was maybe around 03 something like that

She said Michael called her when her father died and when she had postpartum. Both were in 2005. She also said in Rolling Stone that in the latter years she was trying to take Michael out to restaurants like they did back in the old days and tried to introduce him to her kids, but he refused.

It's a bit similar to what Whitney Houston said that they used to hang out a lot in the 80s, 90s and she called him during the trial in 2005. He recieved her calls, but when she wanted to visit him he didn't want it. So sad that he got so isolated from old friends.

Yes... I wonder why didn't he want to see Whitney or Brooke. It isn't like he stopped seeing all of his old friends...

Who knows why.

I remember during the Oprah interview when Michael said he was dating Brooke Shields that her people released a statement saying they were not dating, they were just friends.

I imagine that must have hurt his feelings.

^ Seriously? I didn't know about that. I presumed that they were dating cos later on in 93 they were at the grammys together weren't they?

Yes, they were together at the Grammy's. I tried to fin something online but this was the closest thing I found(I'll look further when I get off work).

Long regarded as weird and private, he gives his first TV interview in years on ABC's Michael Jackson Talks to...Oprah. Ninety million viewers tune in as he says that he has vitiligo, a disease that discolors the skin; that he has never tried to by the Elephant Man's bones; and that he's dating Brooke Shields.

Shields insists that she and the Gloved One are just good friends.
Feb. 24
Suddenly the most visible man in pop, Jackson (escorted by Shields) appears with sister Janet on Grammy broadcast, proving they're not the same person.

In my opinion, the only one, true and faithful friend in Michael's life was undoubtedly Liz Taylor. The rest were just people passing in the life of Michael... simply "passed" in his life, nothing more.

I agree with you totally. She seemed to be his only true friend.

I don't agree. It doesn't seem fair. What about Steve Wonder?. And Macaulay Culkin, Wade Robson, Diana Ross... that guy who was his boduguard, what was his name...?. Also, I don't see why say that Brooke wasn't a real friend...

Most of those people WERE his friends but they weren't a constant in his life in the end. Most of them had their own families and they weren't around Michael as much as Liz.

well back when I was a kid my fav stars were Brooke and Michael, so you can imagine how amazing it was to see him take her to the grammy's. All my friends at college came to get me while I was at the library studying. I didnt even know they knew each other!! And what is also funny is that one of my fav sitcoms at the time was Webster, which my roomates always made fun of me for liking. So that was a big night for me..hahah

WHen Michael did the Oprah show, I think Brooke was as shocked as anyone when he said he loved her. Because at that point they were not having much contact. YOu have to remember back then, the media was saying Michael was gay, so I think he said that to dispel the rumours. Brooke did release the statement saying they were just friends, but I think she meant at the moment. But in anycase I dont thing they were truely bf and gf in the sense that they had sex together, I think their dates were more on a friendly level more innocent. When Michael did Oprah he was very controversial and American had started to not like him as much as they did when THriller was released. I think Brookes PR people were being carefull.

I do wish she tried harder to stay in touch with him. She is a very nice and normal person who could have really helped him stay grounded, but maybe he was mad about that incident.

I have had the chance to meet Brooke several times and a friend of mine worked on her latest move. Furry Revenge. SHe is the nicest person and so down to earth and respectful to everyone. WHen I was a fan back in the day my friends and I went to her highschool in New Jersey. She was at the height of her popularity at the time. I approached her and gave her a small gift. God I was crazy, today I would have been arrested. Well she was a nice as can be and asked for my name and address so she could send a thank you picture, WHich she did. I was thrilled beyond belief.

My friend who worked with her on the movie set said she treats everyone with respect and dignity even the extras and the grips. She thanks everyone all the time and gives everyone a thank you gift at the end of a project. ALso, when she was staring on Broadway , just a few blocks from where I live now, she would have lots of people waiting for her autograph on the street after her show. Well everynight no matter rain or snow she comes out and gives every single person an autograph and lets them take a picture with her. I did wait one night, even though I am too old be doing such a thing, but I figured what the hell. I asked her driver if she was going to sign autographs and he said, she will stay until every last person gets an autograph, dont worry, she never goes until everyone gets one, and he rolled his eyes because he has to wait sometimes over an hour for her to be with her fans. hahah, that made me laugh. but I thought it was the nicest thing I ever heard. She did this for fans for all her shows, On the Town, Cabaret and Chicago over the years I have been here. A true star.

This might not seem like a big deal but no other stars do this sort of thing, Mathew Broderick, Patty Lupone and other big stars have people collect the play bills outside, then they sign them on the inside and then a person hands them back out to the fans outside. OR sometimes they sign maybe one or two autographs and then take off. Katie Holmes just walked by all her fans and got into a limo, no autographs at all.

anyway I think when I was a kid I had good taste in idols, what do you think? Michael and Brooke turned out to be two of the nicest stars and have longevity in their careers. I was very lucky. I just wish Michael was still here to continue his brilliant career.

I have never been a Brook fan....I use to get mad when I seen her in pics with Michael back in the day....I use to say to myself...eeww Michael...how could you....But he always looked happy when he was with her..I think they were more friends than anything else though....As we have heard in his own words...he liked her in that way...but I dont think she liked him as anything more than a friend.

She was his best friend, but she wasn't his only true friend. Those other people (and probably others) were friends of his as well. One sometimes loses contacte with friends. Sometimes it's only for periods of time. That doesn't mean they were not friends.

Also, Wade Robson's sister said Wade had been to see Michael's rehearsals just a pair of weeks or something before he died.

hhmm...I enjoyed reading your post.....thank you for giving a new perspective on Brook,,she always struck me as the cold type....the only time I really saw her really show any emotion was at Michael's memorial....she actually seemed sweet at that moment...she became human to me .

That is a really nice post :). Thanks for sharing thoe memories with us.

Great to know that Brooke is such a nice person. No wonder Michael and her loved each other so much.

yes they are very much alike, very innocent even being in such a cruel business. ANd they both maintained that innocence dispite it all. I think they have a lot in common. Although Michael is way more artistic and eccentric in creative ways than Brooke. In a way I think she was too "normal" for him. I think he liked eccentric people.

no not at all she is very warm and friendly and polite. I think her persona in Hollywood is very mixed and confused. She has never really stuck with one image. When she was young she was considered slutty because of the Calvin Klein ads , blue lagoon and endless love...parents hated her...people thought she would never survive Hollywood. Then she proved them all wrong, keeping her virginity and going to Princeton. Then she got a goody goody image and in those days if you were a model you couldnt be taken seriously as an actess. So she proved them wrong and did Broadway. Then they said she was a has-been and then she proved them wrong doing the comedic thing Friends and SUddenly Susan, then the Broadway thing again. Then the Mom thing. Now I dont know, never watched Lipstick Jungle. Not sure if it is still on. The press was started to pick on her because the show was not doing good. But now that she was seen at Michaels memorial I think America likes her again and trusts her above else. Now, I think she should do something shocking, something very edgy and out there, something dangerous. I mean acting wise of course..grin

I don't know if it's just me but, but as a man and a human being with feelings, I can see why he at least "cut out" Brooke out of his life.
It's a hard thing to do, and it can from the other persons perspective look "cold", but you can't "just be friends" with someone you love.
I don't know who came up with the term "let's just be friends" - but that is some BS to me.
And then you watch the other person move on and shit, that's just like a stab in the heart. Every little thing as like a stab in the heart, to see the person meet someone, then they move in together, then they get engaged, then they get married, then they have kids. - It's mental torture.

Let's not forget that Michael knew Brooke since they were kids and he might have lived on the hope that they would one day end up together - and then you get rejected, I mean... how could you "just" hang out with that person after that, let alone go and chill with her and her kids?
It kind of makes me think how Michael said it tore him into pieces when Lisa Marie went off and married some dude (before they were a couple)

I would put my bet on that it's something like that - but who knows, no one really knows what went on in Michael's mind or what he went through.

well back when I...

Oh great post, thank you! :)

I think you've got a very good point. That might well have been the case.
It does sound from the Schmuley tapes that Michael was in love with her... I don't remember his exact words, but about him wishing she loved him as much as he loved her... didn't he propose to her?, is that true?.
But in the Glenda tapes he talks about women and doesn't mention her... then, those tapes are edited.

Also, he got married just around the time he stopped seeing her, so who knows, maybe Lisa Marie was jealous?.

That is a very good guess. That is probably what happened. Because I dont think she would do anything to hurt him and I think he knows that. He probably just felt to posessive of her and so it would be too painful to stay friends. I can understand that, I would feel the same way.
