U know Michael has really been through it all. Remember the hype leading up to the World Music Awards 06 that Mike was gonna perform Thriller, then it was We are the World.

They played the recorded track in a loop instead of playing the backing track so Michael could sing comfortably. He did attempt to sing, but Ray Charles' parts were being looped and Charles was ad libin. Michael would have had to shout in order to be heard, and that would have been a diaster.
The showman he is, he worked the crowd instead, interacted with the choir, and sang a line when the track permitted. We all know the onslaught the papers had the next day, and there were even upset fans. Wasn't even his fault. This man truely endured far too much.
