In this chart week in the UK, BAD has reached #15, 23 places higher than Xscape that is in #38. Additionally, BAD is 10 on the UK Official Download Chart (Doesn't include physical sales) beating Coldplay's Ghost Stories, put it this way, Ed Sheeran's X probably won't chart again in 27 years time, so this is impressive.

How has this happened all of a sudden? No it's not the death anniversary, it isn't because of Xscape, it's because of Google Play's deal that the album BAD is the album of the week and was sold at 99p for the full album.

A Horse With No Name also scored high on the Catalogue Chart here at number 2.

BAD has spent a whopping 138 weeks in the top 40, that's nearly 3 years! I suggest that someone puts this chart position on Wikipedia. Would a 99p deal for Xscape boost sales?

In my opinion, it is the greatest album that has ever been released. Michael's mature work/integrity on this project, compels the audience to listen... 27 years after the original release.. He wrote 9 of the 11 tracks on this record, and his masterclass shines through extremely bright! In my opinion, nothing can come close to the raw & sheer height of magic of this LP, it deserves all the success in the world! certainly deserves to sell many more copies..

Sony should make a good deal in the US to sell XSCAPE for like 1 dollar or something. I'm pretty sure that will make the album number 1.

It would be a shallow PR trick that would be called out by the general public, just like when Lady Gaga did it. I'm not even sure if it would count in the charts if they sold it for 1 dollar. Wasn't there a debate about that regarding Lady Gaga and some chart politics changed because of her trick?

(It's probably different in the UK and/or with old albums.)

Well as far as I know is that if albums aren't for free they count for the Billboard counting. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yass! Bad is my fave album, way to go Michael! this proves that true art and amazing music never go out of style

Lily Allen's album was sold for 99p on Play Music and got it to number one, they do it every week, but Bad did quite well. Yes it counts to the chart.
